5 Things to do at Glastonbury 2011

What with all the moaning/rejoicing at this years headliners (presuming the 3 mentioned are confirmed), I thought we should have a thread about what fun things people suggest Glasto-goers can do at this years festival outside of watching the main stages so here goes:

1. Strike up a conversation with a random stranger

2. Find a secret bar

3. Try a drink you have never had before from a bar you have never been to before.

4. Watch the sun set at the Stone Circle with a joint/drink/intoxicant of choice...

5. Pick a random band you have never seen before and watch them no matter what.

All pretty straight-forward but i've had a lot of fun with those in the past. ;)

1. Try food from at least five different countries

2. Try at least five different drinks

3. Visit at least five different stages

4. Dress up in something silly/different for at least one day

5. Buy something nice to take home to Mrs Grumpyhack that isn't made in Nepal and that she'll actually like/wear.

1. If your with a group go off by yourself for a few hours.

2. Go around the late night areas during the day when its quiet and get a good look at all the hard work they put in which you probably won't appreciate whilst hammered at 3am.

3. Explore the whole site.

4. Talk to random people.

5. Catch a circus show

1) Take your whole group to the top of the stones without looking back until you're right at the top

2) Sunrise at the Stones

3) Roley Poleys down the flag field

4) Try and see at least 1 band a day

5)Take a different route back to your camp each time you head back, it means you end up getting lost and finding new stuff :D

OK...

1. First and foremost, Brothers bar! :P

2. Bimble about and get lost wandering round discovering all the weird and wonderful things that make Glasto, Glasto.

3. See someone you've never heard of. I'd never heard of Frank Turner till I was dragged to see him and I now love his music!

4. Explore the night time areas and rave your neon socks off :D

5. Take in the view of the whole site from The Park or somewhere similar. Don't look back until you're at the top. It really is amazing.

1. Have an oggie

2. Check something out in the performance areas like the Circus

3. Relax in the basking sunshine on the flag hill

4. Stay up all night

5. Definitely do The Park late at night. Everyone floods to Trash City and Shangri-La (and yeah, they are f**king amazing) but the park has got a lot going on, is nicely crowded and there's such a great vibe there

- Try the Silent Disco

- Have a dance by the bandstand

- When you're getting a round in, buy the stranger next to you a drink too (choose your stranger carefully, this can be misconstrued!)

- Go to the Bimble Inn and check out the cash register

- Watch a couple of random bands on a couple of random stages

3. Start the festival and end with a chill/spliff up at flagtopia

4. Watch the updated arcadia show that will inevitably blow everyones minds.

5. Stay well away from the "See you in 2013" screens shown on the main stages

on sunday night.

1. Sit at the top of the hill at the Park as the sun goes down on Wednesday night

2. Go watch a Special Guest slot, even if you're not certain of who it is

3. Drink as much cider as possible

4. Eat a Growler

5. Watch Beyonce and do the Single Ladies dance, with another 100,000 people round you doing exactly the same thing. (no matter whether you're male, female, goat etc)

I can only recommend you get lost.

No, not the rude get lost, but at least one afternoon, wonder away from the main areas without a care for where you are, were you're going or worrying about having to be some place later, and just wonder round taking in the other sights, sounds, smells and tastes the festival has to offer.

Plenty of wonderful little gems out there.

If you are a Wednesday arrival, I recommend it for all of Thursday!

absolutely! although the effect is better if doing this to the top of the flag field, it's steeper so has a better view. this is the first place we head to as soon as the tent is up for our first joint.

looking over all of what we've got to look forward to over the next 5 days... bliss.
