Anyone with any other ideas outside of the Kate Bush (even though i would prefer Kate over all of my latter suggestions) / Gary Numan etc etc scenario -

nobody thinks Madonna/Gaga/Eurythmics/Diana Ross/Kylie/Erasure then? what about scissor sisters.....

The thing that gets my goat is that people look at the suggestions with a glass half empty rather than a glass half full. On July the 1st, we may very well get what we all sort of agree will be a headliner that isn't exactly suited to our tastes (like Pendulum is to a lot of people) but then even if we do, we'll still have 4 or 5 other places to go that will no doubt have somebody else on that's more to our tastes. That's diversity; that's Bestival. On the other hand, we may get a great headliner and be faced with a clash.

We shouldn't be looking at it as 'Grace Jones headlining' (for example) or 'how shit Pendulum is going to be' - rather, how great the other bands on the other stages at the exact same time are going to be, and from looking at the line-up there are many.

Well I reckon Grace Jones and Gary Numan are just completely unrealistic possibilities, so I think the people complaining about those are more moaning about the suggestions themselves rather than Bestival. Pendulum is similar really, people are more bemoaning the fact that they exist than questioning their size from what I've seen

Jesus christ people, hush with your Gary 'the Tory twat' Newman talk.

It's obviously Elton John. UK tour ends at the end of June, fits the diva et al description and has one the greatest back catalogues in pop history.

And they've got him before Glasto managed to book him. Can't bloody wait!

Personally, I'd rather have a moderately sized interesting headliner rather than a standard popstar. Not just because of wanting to see them, but while it's near-sold-out already, a big popstar may still cause a shift in the crowd. Hell, it'd raise demand for tickets and mean some people might flog tickets on e-bay to enthusiastic Britney fans.... I'm not astoundingly fussed if I like them myself, just as long as it doesn't seem like some sort of shift away from the rest of the lineup.

And Pendulum suck :P

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
