I assume it will be up to individual employers if they want to give an extra days entitlment to every employee.

Downing Street announced that the wedding day would be a public holiday in England and Wales. The Scottish Government is still to announce if it will mark it in the same way.

You must get to take them at other times of the year then? Cause you have a minimum holiday entitlement nowdays that is 5.6 weeks holiday per year based on working 5 days a week = 28 days. Though those days can include your public/bank holidays.

aye they give us the minimum number of holidays they can get away with then add on the 8 days (?) bank holidays. i've always worked full time, 5 days a week though and when i first started, i only had 22 days holiday for my first year, so taking off the bank holidays leaves only 14 days which doesn't seem right.

only a few people are allowed bank holidays off and if you don't get the day off, we don't get paid any extra.

Last couple full time places I worked, we got about 33-35 days off.. but had to keep some for certain dates ie Christmas etc.

Wed had to work bank holidays (some people were off) but just got the time off in lieu.

Pretty sure the law changed last year to put it up to 28 days per year (based on a 5 day week)

    • Either or. They both play the same venues.

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.
