Beady Eye

If you look at the artists that we are debating about Beady Eye have an unreleased album, and Beyonce has 3 top selling albums. How can you possibly say that Beady Eye can be placed higher than Beyonce when they haven't released shit. People will go see them because of Liam but that doesn't make them more eligible than Beyonce. Note I am not a fan of Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Beady Eye, or Oasis

It's got nothing whatsoever to do with Beyonce, has it? Totally irrelevant.

Seriously, have you heard that Beady Eye stuff? it's dreadful, truly appalling bog standard mediocre pub rock. If they hadn't been in Oasis, the most they could hope for would be a Monday night spot at the Dog & Duck playing for beer. It's shockingly bad, and f**k knows, I remember the Seahorses following the Stone Roses. This is worse.

Mind, lets be honest, Oasis haven't done anything good for 15ish years and Liam hasn't written anything good, er, ever. Probably makes a balls up of writing his shopping list, I'd imagine.

Not quite what I am saying, i am just saying to say Beady Eye shouldn't be there when it is basically Oasis's next album or shouldn't have high slot is silly. (Theres going be silly demand them for them I bet). It kind of got loss when people started trying to prove Beyonce has massive creativity behind her. (IE. Make it more slutty)

Going off what Liam has said in the past about Glastonbury (doesn't like it), it would be pretty pathetic if he turned up to promote his new band

If Oasis are shit then Beady Eye are going to be even worse. I depise Oasis with a passion and think they are the most overrated band of the last decade plus both Liam and Noel are twats. I expect Beady Eye is just going to be the same old recycled unimaginateve bullshit just another lazy "Let's make an album because we will get loads of money for it" album.

They're attrocious. Their music is jokeable yet the Oasis diehards will still lap it up. IMO If they were booked they should be given an early slot in th JP or similar but I realise the tent would be rammed. They'd end up in a prime spot on The Other or The Pyramid.

Right.

I have "acquired" *ahem* a copy of the Beady Eye album. I am one of the Oasis diehards mentioned above. And I would like to state, for the record, that this album is an absolute load of shite.

It is the worst kind of subpar 60's/70's style rock/blues I have ever heard. One song (The Roller) blatantly rips off Instsnt Karma. Another (Beatles & Stones) is My Generation all over. I know you'll say that's all Oasis did, but at least Noel was clever enough to mix it up a bit, not almost recreate songs like the ones I mention and give them different lyrics. There is NOTHING original on this album whatsoever. Gem and Andy Bell aren't the greatest musicians but you'd think they would have at least one half decent idea between them, Chris Sharrock seems to have an almost comedic obsession with BIG echoing drums and if Liam thinks that this tripe stands up to what his contemparies are putting out (which he obviously will do) then he better get used to designing that bollocks he passes off as clothes for a long time to come. "Different Gear, Still Speeding"? More like "Going Through The Motions. Badly."*.

I'll bet Noel is laughing his arse off.

*Or "Too Much Come On". Take your pick.

What I dont understand is how people (quite rightly) say they hate oasis and that their songs are shit, but they then say that a noel gallagher solo gig would be good.

He would just be playing the exact same oasis songs that you say are shit.

Sure, he is marginally less irritating than liam, but he is still a whopping great twat, and the songs remain utter dung regardless of who sings them.

Lyla could be sung by robert plant and it would still be utter utter turd

f**kin hell alot of jealous people on here haha. Pleasently surprised with the Beady Eye album as i was expecting it to be shit. Similar to Oasis but also a bit different which is decent.

Can't seem them playing Glasto though at all.

The best thing about Oasis was the hilarious bollocks that Liam and Noel use to spout. It was far more interesting than any of the music.

I have no interest in Beady Eye, but as long as it continues to allow Liam the opportunity to come out with utterly ridiculous proclamations and ill-informed nonsense, then that's alright by me, because I like a good laugh.

last decade? I don't think they were ever really rated in the last decade, however i believe you were 1 or 2 years old when definitely maybe came out 17 years ago. That album imo deserves all the plaudits it got, absolutely barn-storming album that really injected some much needed life into the british music scene. Its the only oasis album I listen to now, and I'll probably keep listening to it for the rest of my life. If you were a teenager in 1994 Britain then it was exciting stuff.

Spot on mate, I was born in 1977 so that period 1994-97 was brilliant. Oasis did one great album, one good album and a whole lot of good B-Sides. There was Blur, Pulp, Suede, Black Grape, Mansun, Ash, The Charlatans, The Bluetones (I liked them anyway), gene (I liked them anyway) and a lot of (in hindsight) not so great bands that at least were fun to watch live and did a decent single or two (Sleeper, Elastica, Supernaturals, Space). Brilliant time to be a teenager.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
