i am now officially very excited - first saw Pulp on an NME stage afternoon in 94, missed 95, saw them headline on the Sunday '98.

they better not clash with U2 - two of my fave bands of all time and will prob be my worst clash in 17 years of Glasto going

in the meantime i will grin manically and hope they headline on the Sunday again! Also i hope they play stuff of we love life album as i missed the forest tour and think it will sound ace, especially with Senior adding his thing to the later stuff!

We Love Life is amazing. Criminally underrated album.

So what songs does everyone want to hear the most? I really hope they do longer setlists this time around. Two hour sets like Blur had would be perfect.

My wishlist in no particular order:

  • Like a Friend

  • Sunrise

  • This Is Hardcore

  • Common People

  • I Spy

  • Disco 2000

  • Feeling Called Love

  • The Fear

  • Sylvia

  • Mile End

  • Born to Cry

  • Bad Cover Version

  • Babies

  • Mis-shapes

  • Pink Glove

  • My Legendary Girlfriend

  • Wickerman

  • The Night That Minnie Timperley Died

  • Help the Aged

  • Sorted for E's & Wizz

  • Live Bed Show (especially the extended version)

  • Do You Remember the First Time?

  • Something Changed

  • The Trees

Why is it that Pulp headlining in 98 seems to have disappeared from folk memory? Alright, 95 was the legendary one, but 98 was my first Glasto and a performance I will never forget. There was a feeling at the time that closing the festival might be too much for Pulp, especially after the muted response to This is Hardcore as a followup to Different Class, and one of the worst Glastonbury mudbath weekends, but Jarvis ruled that stage, somehow managing to be simultaneously a superstar and a man of the people. For those who were comparing Blur and Pulp a few pages back, there's no doubt who won that weekend.

Press Release from William Hill:

Pulp Slashed In Betting As Glasto Headline Slot Beckons

William Hill have slashed the price of Pulp headlining Glastonbury 2011 from 10/1 to 5/2 following a flood of money in the last 24 hours. The band have only recently reformed and will surely be targeting a Glastonbury slot. The band previously headlined in 1995 and there are many that think 2011 may be the year that the band return to the Pyramid Stage.

The amount of money that we have seen has been quite astonishing and it would lead us to think that a headline slot is certainly within reach for the Sheffield rockers, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly.

5/2 Pulp to headline the Pyramid Stage on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday of Glastonbury 2011

Not a bad set Bort (though too long and not enough off His n Hers), I'd love to see some earlier stuff. I love the whole Separations album. There is no way they won't play Babies or Razzmatazz though.

Invetiable it's going to be Different Class / His n Hers based with some from the others.

Does anyone listen to Radio6 in the mornings? At about 10 past seven I thought Matt said something along the line of, "and in music news... Pulp for Glastonbury." But since then none of the music news bulletins have actually carried the story - did I imagine it?

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
