Why do you think I should "let it go", when people are continuing to state they think it's their right to offend people on forums I run?

I'm not going to stop defending the reasonable position I've taken over this until people realise that there is no point in them continuing arguments against it.

I now bring you the weather report for the weather thread.

Expect a frosty start to the day

Whilst air temperatures remain low for this time of year, some people may still suffer from heat under the collar. This will mainly be caused by hot air blowing from the west.

The general outlook is highly changeable, with the hope that things will settle into a freezing point before clouding over. However the risk of a secondary cold-front is quite high BUT could not remain persistent into the early half of next week.

I still refuse to accept that it will rain. Last year was my first and I simply wont accept anything else.

However...as I have just ordered some new sturdy walking boots to see me through the festival, I'm not overly keen on buying a set of wellies, but if I had to do so on site, how much would it cost?

You've done this long enough surely to realise that the morons out there never take the hint?

If you iggy them, then they will go away

And if I ban them, they will go away. ;)

I'm trying to give them a chance. I don't expect everyone to agree with the stance I've taken about the standards of respect that I feel are appropriate here, but I do expect that they should agree with my right to demand those standards.

Sadly, it's something I (or any other mod on any other forum) can never get the best of - I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't. So I might as well stick to my guns and hammer the message home else it just continues somewhere down the line.

I tell you what, I've got a really good feeling about the weather for this year's festival. The forecasts are so up in the air that it could go either way, and this is precisely the reason for my optimism.

Many other aspects of my festival preparations have similarly hung in the balance, often beyond my control. I'm happy to report that everything, one at a time, is just falling into place and working out better than expected - the weather will be the proverbial icing.

Here's to a fantastic festival everyone!

Problem is Neil that you let your moderation duties cross over into some nutjob moral crusade laced with insults and mockery. I think you'd be much better served to conduct the moderation in a 'moderate' and impartial manner, bit like the speaker of the house or something, rather than mixing it all up with your crazy rhetoric.

If I was dealing with people who were prepared to be reasonable then I'd have no need to stoop to their level. It only got to 'insults and mockery' *AFTER* they'd refused to comply with previous requests.

I've been doing this long enough to realise that some people refuse to accept that sometimes there's a need for them to moderate their behaviour or to have their behaviour moderated for them. If this wasn't the case then they'd have complied with those original requests and not fought back when it became clear that tougher action was necessary.

It's simply not possible to have a reasonable conversation with the unreasonable.

I'm female, I thought some of the pictures might have been a bit much but I didn't complain. However, I've found the last however many pages of arguing much more offensive.

This is a weather thread, please can we talk about the weather. :)

    • Top 5 acts of the weekend for me: 1. The Cure 2. my bloody valentine  3. caroline 4. Father John Misty 5. Big Thief   Biggest disappointments: - Slowdive (the mixing/sound just wasn’t right, and that was about 20 rows from the front of the stage) - The xx (also too quiet and marred by talkers who had no interest in the music)    Positives from an organisational sense: - extra water point at Mordor this year - handing out ponchos before the rain and ear plugs before mbv    However…two of the water points had ran out on Saturday evening, which is completely unacceptable when you stop people from bringing in large bottles of water, and charge €4.50 at the bars for a 330ml can
