Kids names, the choosing of...

I`m hardly one to talk ,but just heard on the radio that Jamie Oliver has named his son Buddy Bear. WTF??

I`m sure they thought long and hard about it, and the names might have some special significance (i f**kin hope so)...but if he wasn`t a famous person etc and lived in a two-up two-down street house in Rochdale--would they have chose those names? I think not.

I often wonder if our kids will get stick because of their names and if they will resent us later in life.

What do you think?

I called my son Jolyon

He hates it - and holds it against me and thats not even that radical.

Not sure Buddy Bear is any worse than King Larmer! :P

i think buddy is really nice, but bear is a bit daft. jamie and jools oliver's kids have quite normal names compared to a lot of celebrity kids.

i love unusual names but when i have kids i would try to pick names that are a bit different, but not so much that they would get slagged for it.

Doe he hate it cos he gets stick at school about it etc? Doesn`t he get Jo? Does he consider it a bit feminine...and why did you choose it?

Of course, nowadays the names read out in school at 9am is a veritable jamboree compared to times gone by.

The King bit of Larmer is part of his official name as in Larmer Dalyon The King of The World (maybe he should be part of the Pope thread :D ).

Its funny, the King bit is sticking. I dont use it much ,but at festivals people often do.

Its ok now at 4yrs old, but in a few years... well.

Same with Hendrix Santana.... most people love it (to our faces) and suits him so.... but once again, in 10yrs it might be a different kettle of poissons.

    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.

    • Knocked Loose have been announced for Wacken, that's them at Bloodstock as well   I think they'd headline over Malev
    • I hate tradmill running with a passion lol. Yeah the 1km reps are the one along with hill reps. That's what I did last time.  It's very a very hot summer and job circumstances to stay at the consistent level I was for the marathon earlier in the year. I've got a full set of the main distance new PBs this year. 10k isn't a problem most days but even today I went out deciding just over 5 mile was enough between recovery cruise and steady.
    • There is also a solid argument from Seventeen already that not enough people actually care if they book them also.
