Promoted Bands

Just wondering, were there any bands on the festival republic/introducing stage etc this year, that you could see being promoted to the bigger stages for next year

Yup - G.A.N.G., Pulled Apart By Horses, Penguin, Yuck, Chapel Club, Kassidy, Villagers, Tame Impala.

Passed some really decent bands on the introducing stage, but unsure about names and times. How often does a band on introducing jump to the nme/main?

I would love to see I Blame Coco there next year in NME tent somewhere... I really enjoyed the stuff I saw of her on the FR stage this year.

I would say more "were" than "are" and this is coming from a massive fan. They'll always have a fanbase but the fact they headlined the NME in 07 and the FR this year speaks volumes to me.

I really don't think Ash were one of those NME bands. They were massive for like 10 years, then they released an album that wasn't very good there popularity dropped, then they didn't do anything for a couple of years, then they decided to do this singles project which was never going to be huge.

If Ash were to be 'promoted' i could see them rise to subheadliner of the NME tent

I would have loved to have seen Ash on mainstage this year. All their hits in the blazing sun would have been nothing by glorious. However, their FR set was incredible. They need to release a proper blinding album to get them back up that lineup. It's all it would take. They have the hits, and the fans... they just need to proper stonking good album to propel them once again.

I think Ash's time as a popular band is gone, not necessarily a bad thing. At least they're playing for people who want to see them rather than people who are watching them because they're cool. They seem happier as a band now as well just doing there own thing.
