Strange Boys did Son of a Preacher Man in their set up at The Park, not a bad effort :)

I actually thought their whole set was superb - I was only up there for Frankie & the Heartstrings and Beach House, who were on before and after Strange Boys, but I came away more impressed with them than the other two! Think I'll buy their album when I have some money to my name!

The Pet Shop Boys covered Coldplay's 'Rule The World', and bizarrely, The XX did a brief cover of ATB's '9 pm til I come' up at The Park on Friday. Almost straight away after we went into the Rabbit Hole. That was a particularly surreal half hour!

Best I saw - We Can Work It Out by Stevie.

Worst I've seen on the TV coverage: The Chain (come on folks, that was f**king PAINFUL) closely followed by the same toneless bint crucifying You Got The Love.

HOW is she famous with a voice like that?! I goes through me like a nun's first curry.

Can't believe no one has mentioned White Man in Hammersmith Palais covered by Paul Heaton and Billy Bragg to close Leftfield on Sunday. Fookin' ace.

If I'd heard Keane I'd probably be saying With Or Without You, sadly I didn't so it has to be Pet Shop Boys cover of Viva La Vida - turned a god awful song in to a real crowd pleaser.

Saw Neil interviewed on the Beeb. He said when they heard it for the first time they thought Coldplay had written a Pet Shop Boys song. On this performance I have to agree. Got to hand it to Chris Martin, he can certainly write well for other artists in their style (Embrace, Jamelia, The Streets etc.)

    • The tickets for the back at Muse, did go on sale. I know because I bought tickets there because they were the cheapest. All in with fee's, I got tickets at £81.20 each.   So likely, sold out quickly for those wanting the cheapest tickets. Either that or sold poorly and they took them off sale and when I turn up they offer me paper ticket upgrades because they closed the back.
    • She's headlining Reading and Leeds. Not to be sniffed at. She's also done her substantial arena tour since last time.    I think she's a decent bet to do it.
    • The best Punisher stuff from the Bernthal time is probably Daredevil. Although season 2 of Punisher is a great kinda study on what Castle can be.   But his first turn up in Daredevil was an absolute blast.    I thought Brand New Day did a decent job with him.
    • Basement only getting 30 mins right at the start of the day is a ballache, how annoying
    • Urban Voodoo Machine at Molly's Chamber in Birkenhead. Always a great show, quite funny to see them squeezed onto such a small stage. Sort of New Orleans vibes, starting with a procession from the back of the crowd, and finishing with an acoustic singalong in the same direction, joined by the support act. Marvellous.      20260806_225146.mp4
