I've decided that I'm gonna knock off work just before 6 today, to watch what will probably turn out to be a dreadful match - Braga vs Liverpool.

I'm interested to see it as Carroll should be making his first Liverpool start, but expect it to be dreadful cos just about every other one of their Euro matches this season has been awful. Fingers crossed that this one isn't.

all i keep hearing from the Goons today is how they would have beaten that Milan side as well, so its not fair to laugh at the fact that we have progressed further than them.

I keep having to tell them that if they couldnt beat Braga and Shaktar away from home, how do they expect to have gone in the San Siro!!

Great Days!!

Sorry steve! :P;)

Is it just me or does he get away with loads of fouls due to his height?! Couple of times last night he thundered into Silva and the foul went against Silva! Crouch just looked all awkward and fell down. Remember the goal in the world cup when he pulled that guys ponytail?

Dunno lads, I thought so too but he dives in and over the top of defenders, arms everywhere, hands on their backs etc. Ref assumed he must have won it legit or been fouled because hes a streak of piss.

It’s the opposite of the old school defender trick of just bending down whenever theres a high ball. The attacker goes over them or lands on them, looks a foul, usually given, but actually isn’t. Baresi was a master at it in the latter part of his career.

Only Adebayor had a better shots to goal ratio last season.

I do think we'd have beaten AC over 2 legs, but that's not the point. We only played Barca at the stage we did due to rubbish performances in the away games during the group stages. Entirely ourselves to blame. Cangrats to your boys mate, they've done brilliantly and a good draw could well see them progress again. I genuinely hope you sign a better sriker in the summer though, watching the ball getting lumped forward to Crouch at every oportunity was effective but very dull to watch.

another thing about last night

i think it was the game he finally won over the spurs fans. yes, he can be a grumpy, gnarly sod. yes, he has a tendancy to upset his team-mates(tho we have yet to see that side of him), and yes, he came with a hell of a lot of baggage being from the sarf londoners

but billy gallas, you were a rock!!

Great result for Braga, lots of fun laughing at the scousers.

yup, it was as dreadful as I thought it might be. Can I have that 90 minutes of my life back, please god?

The one bright light was the difference Carroll made when he came on - a good player brings out the best in the average. But the reverse side of that was all of the long balls, not pretty at all. ;)

Hopefully things won't be so bad with him on the pitch when there's also players on the field who are able to play the ball to feet and manage the occasional pass that doesn't go astray.

    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
    • Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
    • Sounds fabulous. Totally fabulous.    These are the moments that are needed for mind and soul.
    • Sounded in really excellent form, loved Roy's Tune and Big Shot making an appearance. They've got their European tour starting on Saturday so imagine we might hear new material.
    • My train of thought indeed.
