I'm not entirely sure that he was referring to Walcott.

I very much doubt he was saying that the other player who got injured last night - Fabregas - won't be missed.

Of those two players I reckon it's a more than reasonable assumption that he was referring to Walcott and not Fabregas.

Which is precisely why it would be a witty slur on Fabregas's relatively poor season.

I've had an Arsenal fan lodging at mine this season and he thinks he's been shite. They couldn't win a game without him in previous seasons. Mind, with the upcoming away game at The Emirates I'm glad both are out.

he's perhaps not been as good as he has been, but 'shite' is a huuuuuge over-statement.

As for winning games without him, that's more to do with improvements-with-age from the rest of the team than anything else. There's no doubt that they're improving as a group.

As for both being out for Sunderland at the Emirates, you're probably hoping for too much - Fabregas might be fit for Sunday (tho he might not, but it doesn't sound too serious), and while Walcott won't be fit for Sunday it doesn't sound like he'll be out for very long.

Oh c'mon  .... yes I know lots of people don't rate Walcott, but he's much better than he was a few years back and there's plenty of highly placed people in football who hold him in high regard nowadays - Messi said that England would have won the world cup if Walcott had been part of the squad (yes, I know that's an over-statement, but it shows how highly he thinks of him), and Postman Pat has finally conceded that he made a mistake by not including him. He ain't perfect but he's a very good player, and getting better as time passes.

Absolutely  It's a crackingly funny song to be fair to the Mancs

I'd agree that Cesc hasn't been as good as he was last season but I think he's been struggling all season with his hamstring. Not having a real rest after the world cup hasn't helped either. In some ways i hope he misses the Barca game as i'd rather he was fully over his injury and was ready to play the rest of the premier season for us. We've got a real chance of running united close and that's more important than the champs league to me. I'm glad Ramsey is getting his fitness now because we'll need him back in the squad.

I'm sure it wasn't - only 3 home wins wasn't it?

I remember you had some young keeper in goal we all thought was crap because the viking was injured - turned out to be Ian Walker - and we weren't wrong!

Looking back perhaps it wasn't such a surprise, your team wasn't exactly superb - then again neither was ours - Rowland, Stevie Jones, Peter Butler, Matthew Rush.

So, players weren't as good as now, less 'imports', older facilities, terracing. I'd swap then for now in a heartbeat.

if the germans can do it, i dont understand why we cant

even the taylor report didn't blame terracing per se, just the low grade steel used in the crush barriers used at hillsborough

Did Milan & Sampdoria on a football weekend last May. Valencia & Almeria last weekend. Next planned trip is to the above Westfalen ground - with tickets in that end. Hoping to do Schalke the same weekend. If not, Cologne, Monchengladbach, or Leverkusen are all close by alternatives.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
