Yeah. A midfield tomorrow of Park, Fletcher, Carrick and Obertan isn't good enough but 4 of your best players getting hit with a virus is a bit of a freak.

I agree it's a bit of a freak - but none of that detracts from the idea that many of those 'lower' members of the squad are the future of the club.

Tho of course of the four players you've named there, only one falls into that category really - the others are merely squad players at their worst*, so not really ever intended as being week-in-week-out first choices of the future.

(*Carrick might have been bought to be a first choice player, but it's not worked out that way. Park has always really been a squad player rather than first choice [tho decent enough - I'm not having a knock]. Fletcher might yet make being a standard first choice, but he's not quite there yet).

Oh I agree, Park is ok, but not a starting Utd midfielder, either is Carrick. Fletcher is a good engine room though and has to be one of the most improved players around? He was pretty dire when he started out. John O'Shea standard.

I don't think these guys are the future once Giggs, Scholes etc go. No way Fergie will go with starting Carrick every game.

So apparently the Drog had Malaria!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/9172276.stm

Can't have been a particularly serious strain if he was playing on sunday and is due to start tomorrow.

Ancellotti

"I don't know where he got it from. I gave him a few days off and he went on holiday for a few days, and then he has malaria."

err .. I'm guessing he got it from a mosquito on holiday, Carlo.

I thought this guy was clever!?
