Seems to have a decent head too, wants to stay in Belgium with family for a few years before a move overseas. Scary, scary prospect.

It's weird to think that they can be forced to sell when they don't want to. Don't really understand how that works.

They appointed Broughton et al to sell the club for them. Broughton has done that and now they're not happy because they don't make a profit from it. Couple of c**ts.

I think it's the case that it comes down to the company's Articles of Association - which are basically the rules for how votes in the boardroom work.

They can be written in whatever way the company decide - but of course, when they're decided people might not consider what effect they might have in the future.

Two standard ways they might be written are these:-

1. the vote works on shareholding - so if one shareholder owned more than 50% of the shares, what that shareholder says goes.

2. the vote works simply on a headcount people voting any way - so that directors (who might be shareholders, or they might not) can outvote those with a greater shareholding that are against them.

Because there was the attempt by the owners to remove the RBS appointed directors from the Liverpool board before there was a vote on the proposed sale, and the owners don't want to sell but it's being sold anyway, it seems pretty clear that at Liverpool the voting is done on a directors head count and not shareholding.

They gave up their rights over to the chairman about selling the club and if they still take it to court to argue about it the bank will take control as they can't pay off ther loan but that would mean points deducted though for admin.

That's 100% definitely wrong.

If the bank take over the club because the yanks have defaulted on the debt it's not administration or any points deduction.

It is simply viewed as a change of ownership of the club no different to if it had been sold, exactly as happened when Chanderai (or whatever his name is) became owner of Pompey because someone had defaulted on a debt owed to him where they'd given the club as security for that debt.

Not necessarily, the club is owned by Kop Holdings, not Liverpool so its a "parent company" issue. Not totally black and white if they gets a points deduction for going into admin I think.

It is - it's 100% clear, and with a precedent set with Pompey.

If the bank take over the club because the club has defaulted on a debt owed where the club was security for that debt then the club is NOT in administration and so there's no points deduction.

RBS could choose to put the club into admin, but they'd be nuts to do it as they'd devalue the asset they have which they need to sell to recover their debt. They'd recover far less of the debt if they put the club in admin.

The club is profitable on a trading basis remember too - so there really is no need to put the club in admin.

I know I'm in the minority here but I thonk Mclaren was/is a very good manager.

Fabio filled them with confidence in the qualifiers but the performance in the world cup was no better than Mclaren.

mclaren's a great manager, just didn't work for him at england, did awesomely at twente and seems to have things on the right track with wolfsburg after a few shakey games at the start of the season.

Why is the general consensus that after this sale of Liverpool goes through everything will be hunky dorey with the club again? They've been absolutely shocking on the pitch this season (and most of last), the owners dont sound like the sort of people who are going to allow Woy to spend 'big' in the next window (if he's still around).

Scousers can moan all they want about the owners, but when they have 11 players on the pitch who bar a couple are moderately average and mid table level at best - they just need to realise that Liverpool (imo) aren't going to be challenging for the league anytime soon unless they kick out most of the squad. Wonder who they'll blame in a few months time if they're still struggling if this sale goes through they'll prolly release a youtube video complaining about the manager by then saying that

we're the same, as are pracictcally every nation i think. but what pisses me off is that the scottish lower leagues aren't on. despite there being no players involved in internationals. and if we have another winter like last year, it would make sense to play games on any given dates in autumn. but nah, let's give them all another break

Try Irish club football.

Bohemians vs Shamrock Rovers the other night, the Man Utd vs Liverpool of Irish football, 4th last game of the season and both going for the title. The game was reported on the news just before some filler about two injured hedgehogs who were nursed back to health by some weirdo. And that segment was five times longer than the football report.

And people wonder why we follow English teams.
