Quite possibly, but then again, these things happen. It's not like (say) Man Utd have never been beaten by a shit team, and when it's happened no one says they're finished as a footballing force.

I'm far from impressed with Woy so far and have little hope for improving things, but I'd still say it's too early to make any proper judgement. The impression of him isn't helped by Liverpool's league position, but then again they're the only team to have played three of the biggies this early in the season.

The point I was making was that I think it's impossible to make any firm judgement right now on where they'll end up. They're defo looking shit, but (not including last night) they've had a number of the more difficult games in the season so far, which none of the other 'top' teams have.

yeah but we aren't judging liverpool on last nights result alone. they have 5 points from 5 games do they not? fair enough they've had a tough set of early fixtures, but if they can't get the better of those 3 top teams, then it shows that they aren't one of them.

I agree with you that they won't be top four, as I've already said.

But I think it's too early to judge where they'll finish below those top positions, on both the fixtures they've had already, and Woy being new in the job.

Liverpool's first 11 are a fair bit better (on paper, anyway), tho their 2nd 11 are a lot worse.

But given how many tens of millions Spurs have had sat on the bench at every game for several seasons, it's hardly surprising. Spurs have hugely outspent Liverpool in recent years, but their spending hasn't actually made the best 11 they can put on the pitch much better than they already were.

Liverpool are desperately in need of getting a result from somewhere just to get a bit of confidence back, or they're in risk of things really starting to unravel. Their squad players just aren't good enough. WHether Hodgson is the right man to sort them out is debatable, but the team he's inherited is in a dreadful state.

what sort of contract is hodgson on? would they even be able to afford that?

no idea on both.

i just think you need to look at what o'neil did with villa. they were potential relegation fodder when he took over. and look what he achieved. he's certainly a good manager for getting the best out of players. perhaps not the best recruiter but i think he'd be a hell of a lot better than what hodgson will be.

I don't much disagree, but he only achieved that at Villa by spunking lots of money on players he then immediately decided were shit.

Liverpool only have themselves to blame that the squad players aret good enough. They have got rid of warnock, riise, hyppia, crouch and bellamy and replaced them with worse players. When you look at man u, chelsea and arsenal I think they rarely make mistakes when letting players go.
