I hear that! One excuse at our camp was "oh sorry ...do you want to buy an x-box?" What a f##king Muppet!

Thankfully we now have a mutually agreed warning system. If indeed a unwanted guest arrives...we simply say in a loud high pitched voice "i smell colon" This immediately gets the attention of every neighboring tent with thier full piss bottles at the ready!

Before everyone gets completely carried away and forms a full blown piss bottle wielding vigilante mob, just remember that it is perfectly possible to genuinely end up at the wrong tent. I've done it myself.

In 2008 my sisters tent was 'visited' by a "Sorry wrong tent" scumbag, who had already relieved them of £300 in cash... I gather that on the first night of the fest a great number of people camped in kidney mead fell foul of the same gang.

When this was discovered the following morning, I went with her up to the on-site police station to report it... The very sympathetic copper advised to see if we could buy some spray paint/spray on hair dye which would be used to spray anyone doing the same subsequently (although admittedly it would be unlikely to suffer a repeat visit)... this would then make them easier for the police to catch, as the scum would be running around covered in paint.

I suppose it's worth a try and will be taking a few cans with us this year, just in case...

I have completely inocentlly in a completely wrecked state tried to get in wrong tent more than one!

I have found people in my mates tents fast asleep, they did no harm they just got the wrong tent while twatted.

How many times in drunken mess has it taken you ages to find your tent with a few false positives along the way?! it happens to me every year, i might not try the tent before I realise but its easily done.

CHILL OUT!!

I agree with previous posts

I think it would be easy to spot a proper Glasto'er bumbling round in a haze assuming the tent is theirs and the bewilderment that it isnt, compared to someone completely straight, nipping straight in and then looking shifty when caught

I'm an ex doorman myself and a couple of mates aren't small either, I think if anyone comes into my tent they be bundled to the ground in a hold and then the questions will start, if i think they are a scummer their pockets will be turned out and any contraband handed over to the police to be returned to its righful owners, i f****ing hate thieves!!

One year my mate (a ginger girl called Sarah) asked me to wake her up in the morning when I got up on the Monday morning.

I got up, obviously the landscape had changed somewhat as some tents had gone. So I went to what I thought was Sarahs tent and unzipped the front. There was a sleeping ginger so i started hitting her on the head saying 'sarah! get up!'. Nothing happened so in the end I was literally slapping her face.

Next thing a guy who was lying next to her rolled over and said 'mate what the f**k are you doing?'. I didnt recognise this man and when I looked down I didnt recognise the completely random ginger girl I had been slapping in the face either.

I was very embarrassed.

I honestly can't believe the cheek of some of these mother truckers!

To creep into someones tent, while they are asleep / unconscious and rummage through their belongings, they must be desperate, brave or bloody stupid!

If i caught the little pikey then they would get a good spanking

I've had it happen to me at Leeds, then some of my neighbours were robbed. I feel so guilty that I didn't get up, but you just don't think when you're woken from a deep, intoxicated slumber do you? :( I got robbed at Bearded this year and one of our group saw a guy coming out of my tent and thought nothing of it (WTF???) Fortunately I don't keep all my money and stuff in the same place, but that's not the point is it? I think from now on, if it happens again, I will make myself get up and check on whoever it is, the least that can happen is that they move away from my group.

As has been pointed out it is usually easy to tell the difference between a noisy, stumbling, drunken reveller and a sneaky, thieving hoody scumbag.

Everyone needs to get more organised (with their neighbours if possible). No point in codes, or even taking things into your own hands. If you simply shout "Tent Thief!" at the top of your voice and point at them you will 1) scare them off 2) alert your friends and neighbours and 3) if you are lucky alert security if they are in the area.

It is also worth noting that these arseholes usually operate in gangs, so taking things ito your own handscan sometimes be risky unless you are part of a large group yourself.

    • I think it happened a week ago. Btw, Ela Minus looks like a great addition for the opening free day now. Anyone been to this venue? Is there like a closed place or they just put an open air stage somewhere in the park?
    • I see the weekend tickets have sold out. When did that happen? I recall seeing that Friday day tickets had all gone but was surprised to see today that weekend ones had too.
    • I thought some time back that I could see Get Down Services getting a slot in Woodsies
    • Tickets on sale when I'm abroad (I'm assuming this sells out in minutes), and the actual dates could not be worse for me work-wise. Still going to try to get tickets, of course, but god damn!
    • I'm personally confident that Slipknot will be one of the headliners next year (no insider info just lines up with them likely releasing an album soon)    Then there's the headliner that's never played the festival before which the bookers have alluded to so that's one of Blink, Foos, NIN, Nickelback and possibly Pearl Jam or even Bon Jovi    The third band I also think will be a new headliner who are being bumped up so Deftones, Offspring, Paramore Etc.    I'd love Slipknot, Foos and Paramore but realistically i'd go with Slipknot, Blink and Deftones
