lost ticket

so today hasn't been a good day! i am in america working at the moment. got my email saying my ticket has been dispatched. emailed my dad to ask if it had turned up. he said no. now today i get a call from him saying it did come, and he did sign for it but was working on the farm at the time so he quickly chucked it on the side, now as a result it has been thrown away with the rest of the useless post from that day and cannot be found.

i have tried to speak to seetickets today but they told me to ring back tomorrow and try and speak with someone else but apparently after it has been signed it is my responsibility and they will not re-issue a new ticket. i can understand this for normal gigs and concerts but as this one has my name and face on it I would think there would be a way around it.

does anyone know what the best way to approach this would be? who should I speak to? i cannot begin to describe how on edge I am about this. if anyone has any ideas it would be hugely appreciated.

cheers

i remember reading about people who have done this in the past. they searched bins and the local refuse site. i'm afraid the most likly outcome is if you cant find it tough. I know thats not what you want to hear but could you imagine if everyone did this? they have to have a set policy and like they told you if its signed for its out of there hands. sorry boybinz but your only real chance is to make your parents search high and low...

Oh my god! I have a bit of a nightmare re tickets myself, so COMPLETELY feel your pain :O:(

Really, really hope you get it sorted. Are your folks back home able to get every hand available to search? Hard to get others motivated regarding this sort of thing when they have no idea how important it is .... what a bloody awful situation to be in!

Peace x

Seriously... this is stupid!!

If anything you should at least be able to pay for a replacement for about £30 or sumit! Like the OP said it has his face on it and his registration number.

I would ring the glasto help line or sumit and mention it to them !"

A similar thing happened to me in '02, a dozy friend had ordered tickets for us & promptly lost them. Unless things have changed since then I'm afraid no amount of pleading will get you anywhere. At least my forgetful mate had the decency to stump up £500 for a pair of touted replacements, not really an option these days so competitions are about your best hope. The best of luck to you, I know exactly how you're feeling!

As others have said, unfortunately the policy of GFL is to not replace lost tickets...so hunting high and low is your first option. However, in previous years there have been un-announced sales of the very last few tickets, so it would be worth monitoring the seetickets glasto ticket page (with any number of page-monitoring applications)...however, since your reg number will have already been used, I'd re-register at the link below asap, just in casse they pop up again (if buying a new one is an option)...good luck in the search! :)

Tell your parents to not throw the rubbish out yet and when you get back you'll have top got through it by hand. In the past people have thrown out their own tickets and the consensus on the forum was split between those who thought you should you not find your ticket you should at least try to get another one or take down all your documentation and see if you could sweet talk your way in (it has allegedly worked for some people) and those that tell you to resign yourself to not going. In this instance it's more of a bummer as it wasn't you that lost the tickets.

Alternatively you might want to contact some of the companies working there as you may still be able to wrangle a working ticket from someone instead. Works Beer Company, Litter Picking etc... worth a punt at least, explain your situation, they may take pity but don't expect anything.

Hope you find your ticket.

The world is full of rules set by companies that are not always in your best interest and quite possibly not legal. Contact Citizens Advice Bureau. Just because GFL has said it and we all accept it as gospel doesn't mean its legal ( i don't know, but its better than just saying 'tough'). If all else fails eg bin checking, cow dung checking, being nice to see/gfl then try the legal route.

[quickly checks his ticket is still in the usual hidey-hole ... pheewww! ]

Worst nightmare and have to say that if was my ticket that someone had lost then I'd probably be organising a funeral around now for use just in case they didn't manage to find it by the time I got back

I seriously doubt that there's really anything much you can do other than to find it. No matter what state it's in, providing it hasn't actually been torn up or shredded then it should be no real problem. However, the official line is always once delivered then it's your problem I'm afraid. It's the same story as for any General Admission ticket, replacement is not an option :( It may be worth seeking advice as suggested above just in case there is any precedent for forcing a promoter to issue replacements in circumstances like this but I doubt there is. The argument against will no doubt always be along the lines of H&S issues due to potential over-crowding if allegedly lost or stolen tickets are used fraudulently or whatever plus the fact that you definitely received the ticket so should have been more careful and all that.

i feel for you mate, a similar-ish thing happened to me in '07 - tickets got delivered to a mate, sent on to us by secure post but never arrived. we tried everythnig including going down to the site and explaining it to them but there was nothing we could do! apparently once they're signed for they have a 'no ticket, no entry, no exceptions' policy :(

There may be some hope for you though as you've got a few weeks to try and sort something out - our sticky situation occurred the week of the festival! And i heard about people in our situation in '07 who managed to get in. so don't give up yet.

My best advice would be to phone worthy farm direct and explain things to them, they were really helpful for me, even though they ultimately couldn't solve things. their number is 01749 890470

Good luck!

Turn up, sans ticket, with plenty of ID. Invent a sob story at the gate about having lost it since arriving in car parks, if need be try bursting into tears, simulating a fit or, frankly, whatever you have to do. A friend got in this way a couple of years back.

i lost mine at the festival but obviously needed it to get to the campervan fields - they checked my details (long process) and issued more paperwork with me so i could get in and out...surely they could do something like this...I think i'd do what spindles said, turn up, blag it - say you lost it from the car to the gate...cry...anything...

There is no way anyone at the CAB will tell you what you want to hear in this case. No law in this land can make Glastonbury issue more than the licensed number of tickets for the festival. Just because they have someone's name and photo on it does not prevent someone who looks a bit similar getting in. If they reissued tickets for those that have been delivered and signed for then the festival could end up being over subscribed by 10s of thousands thereby breaking the license conditions and jeopardising future festivals.

I feel bad for the OP and hopefully his parents will be able to locate the missing tickets.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
