Saw them at Leeds O2 a month or so back, and they really rocked the place.

Plus saw Justin this weekend do an acoustic and that was quite good also :P

p.s. very tempted to catch them in Avalon to..

I also saw them numerous times in the mid 80s and always an excellent live band (although I agree their following could be thuggish at times). Definitely one of the most underrated bands of their era with some really well written songs. Not sure of any of their material since their excellent Thunder and Consolation album, but good to hear they're still rocking it. The Avalon stage is one of my favourites and I'll definitely be there for old times sake

Agree that the BT set was brilliant, also saw them on the recent tour and that was blinding too. Justin's singing still as good as ever, and while the show is a bit rockier (there's 5 of them up there now as opposed to just the 3 piece in the 80s) the new stuff lends itself well to the new line up.

Plenty of oldies for us that don't like anything new, Nelson's bass playing was phenomenal!

Definitely the choice for me on Friday night despite seeing them twice recently.

And yet that very track requires strings. :P

Hint: they had a tape loop, or synth piece, to make up for the lack of strings.

Being pedantic they had strings on their guitars though. :P

Considering it was a new album tour I think they played a fair number of older tracks when I saw them.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I'm actually really looking forward to this (sad I know) and I guess it shouldn't be too packed as many people will be taking in the Gorillaz light show at that time. Does anybody know the stage times yet, i.e. what time does the last band start on the Avalon stage? Many thanks!

I followed them extensively during the 80's from the age of 16 to around 18 or so, thumbing from gig to gig and crashing on other fans floors and whatnot. I guess I was one of 'those' fans back then.

Saw them again in 2002 on the Other Stage on a Sunday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed their set. I found it just as energetic and powerful as when I first saw them, I however was not and needed a bit of a lie down afterwards. Would be even better after dark I should think.

Oh the memories.. Scalplocks and mohawks :P

To be fair my mind was elsewhere a lot of the time when they were on at Bearded. I've always been a fan but I was really determined not to miss them in memory of a good friend who died about 7 years ago in uncertain circumstances. He was a massive fan, followed them everywhere sleeping on floors, in squats, vans wherever and I know he would have been down there on someones shoulders - clogs and everything! I was gutted he wasn't there but I managed to put thoughts like that aside and honour his memory as best I could with this old and broken body. :P
