Me and a mate got chatting to a small group of people in 08

Stayed in touch with a couple of them and ended up doing Glasto together in 09 where my mate and a girl from the group became an item/inseparable/barely left the tent all weekend

She quit her job abroad to move in with him shortly after

They are currently expecting their 1st child in September and i'm best man at their wedding next year :P

It does happen

The only bad thing from a selfish point of view is that i've lost my wingman for this year :P

I met a guy last year, just happened to chat to him while we were watching Pendulum, ended up watching Franz Ferdinand together after and he walked me back to my tent when I had to go stewarding. Turned out he was camping right next to my stewarding caravan, and he popped out to chat to me through most of my shift, which was quite nice, considering it was the midnight-6am shift.

He came to stay at mine for the weekend a couple of weeks after the festival, and we got on really well and a relationship was considered, but we decided it wasn't practical because of distance / me starting uni / him needing to finish 6th form.

Shame.

This forum's just got much better now we're back on the sh*gging stories instead of the sixth form linguistic debates about the semantic associations of words such as; 'nigger', 'paki', 'ginger' etc.

Do you remember when it was ok to make jokes about ethnic minorities and gays were open to unimaginable abuse. It may be fun to you but when it's day in day out it's just another form of prejudice.

Is it just a coincidence ginger is an anagram of ni**er.

Ginger is hair colour that people sometimes like to take the piss out of that's all; not very nice for the ginger person but hair colour non the less. I've never heard of people with ginger hair being stopped and searched by police or historically driven out of their homes by non ginger people.

Yeah, cos hair is completely different to skin. Justify your prejudices all you want but at the end of the day, prejudice is prejudice. People seem to make up their own random criteria about what's right and wrong just so they can do what they want to people.

I told myself I wouldn't get drawn into this but I'm gonna.

There is a whole world of difference between banter and friendly jibes at peoples expense and actual prejudice, bullying or persecution of any kind. Some people are hyper sensitive to this issue and I find that annoying.

I don't take myself at all seriously but I'm comfortable and confident in who I am. People take the piss out of me and I will laugh along and most of the people I class as close friends have a similar outlook. In my experience, the people who immediately try to occupy the moral high ground when jokes surrounding the issues of race/sexual orientation/religion etc. comes up tend to be unhappy in their own skin and carrying a heavy bag of neuroses with them.

Hell, the 4AssedMonkey thing came about as a jibe from my old cycling club about the size of my arse in lycra shorts (it's a fair old size and sticks out like you wouldn't believe) and it's been my internet moniker for the last 10 years as a result.

I'd be the first to jump on anyone who was obviously being prejudicial or malicious about any given sector of society but for pete's sake, can we all lighten up a touch?

    • Id suggest they would need another new album before they play again - Otherwise the show is going to probably be very similar to the one they played at the last festival.
    • Absolutely not, I dont know of it selling out but they needed TFG and Skyvip to shift them. Biffy aren't either and they didn't go to TFG and I wouldn't say Kasabian are either and they sold it out the quickest. Liam Gallagher did Finsbury Park as well and subbed the Pyramid Stage, Noah Kahan did two nights at BST and subbed the Pyramid though that's a rare one. Finsbury itself will definitely not grant you top spot, that field can hold 100k      That's fair. I'm definitely in the camp myself that Fender and Harry are most likely.

    • I don't think he will announce restarting north sea drilling.    He'll hint at it instead and kick it down the road.   And the plan isn't for new licenses anyway.
    • LCD Soundsystem seem perfect for the outdoor circuit. I could definitely see them doing that.
