Most offside goals could be done just as quick using the same technology. So why use it for goal lines and not the offsides. To be honest the goal-line problem happens so rare, I dont see the point investing too much into it. Why look for solutions to problems which dont really exist. How many times in a season does this really happen

Most offside goals could be done just as quick using the same technology. So why use it for goal lines and not the offsides.

The problem with offside calls being video reviewed is that people won't know when to stop playing, when to carry on, and what's fair to do if/when the game is played different to what a video review shows it should have been.

And then there's the fact that many other calls are just as crucial to whether a goal might be scored or not - was it a foul, should it be a penalty, etc, etc, etc.

It's certainly not practically possible for everything to be reviewed without ruining the game as it's played now, but once you start down the video review line it becomes near impossible to say "this thing should be reviewed by not that thing". So on that basis, I'm 100% against it, as football would cease to be the football which has become the world's most popular sport.

Goal line technology is the only 'review technology' which would work OK with the game.

Congrats to Spain.

Holland - Spain then.

Be nice to see a new winner, and should be a good final.

Spain deserved it tonight, still not at their best but suffocated the play again like they do. Great header to win it aswell.

Couldnt agree more, the second they bring it in for one thing, its going to be a slippery slope and we will have throw ins, corners, offsides all being questioned.

I think spain today was the best team performance of the tournament. They just completely nullified the germsns. What impresses me is how thy dont panic. They lost the first game, yet never really appeared to doubt themselves throughout the tournament. Germany have nothing to be ashamed of, in reality the draw was always going to be too tough for that young side. I hope the final is good, I am slightly worried if spain score first however they will just kill the game off.

really hope Spain win it. I've been rooting for them since the early 90s and they've always dissapointed but this team has it in them to do it. should be a cracking game.

Dutch porn star Bobbi Eden has offered to give all her Twitter followers oral sex if her nation wins this year's World Cup in South Africa.

The Netherlands made it to the last stage of the competition with their 3-2 victory over Uruguay in Tuesday's semi-final.

Prior to the match, Eden wrote: "If Netherlands wins the worldcup I will give a BJ to all my followers, together with vickyvette, misshybrid, gabbyquinteros 4804 and counting RT. (sic)"

After some quizzed her about the offer, she clarified: "It should say that i will give them a free B**w Job :)... It is real! BJ for all followers."

After the Netherlands' semi-final victory, she added: "Only one more game between you and a free BJ !!! Go teambj!!!!

"Details on how to collect your B**w Job will be given on Monday after the worldcup final! Go teamBJ... My body is throbbing with all the excitement about teamBJ!!... I'll be live later today... so you can all tell me how sloppy you like it ;)"

Does anyone know the exclusion criteria for referees for the world cup final. I always assumed if you were from one of the countries in the last 4 you couldnt ref the match but howards webbs dad on the radio said that the only combination of semi final teams he could have refereed was holland v spain. Why couldnt he have been ref for a match with uruguay or germany in. Im guesing because germany knocked england out for the latter?

Can make restrictions of what can be appealed by the teams anyways, similar to most sports; American football etc.

A Trial period like Sifi says would be worth it imo.

good game so far, got a tenner on muller scoring a hat trick (gets me £800 back), 2 to go, i have faith in him! get £350 back if forlan scores 2 as well (which is looking more likely at the mo)

dad just made a good point - why the hell didn't uruguay play like this all the way through the world cup? play has been really fluid so far, pretty good game

    • What is too old for Leeds Fest now ?  I'm going to the Fontaines Saturday in a few weeks at 54 !!!  I may be the oldest there 🙂    Wythenshawe may be an option for WA.
    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
    • I would be all over Wolf Alice but may have outgrown this venue.    Also have to consider the schedule they have been on this year so may be on a break.  This last 10 days alone they did Tramlines, New York, Chicago and Kendal Calling.  Although make hay while the sun shines may come into play.
