I`m struggling to get me arse into gear to get interested again in the WC.

Todays game is a very difficult one to call with every option in terms of result a def possibility.

If this If that.

I hope its Holland who score first. But i can see it being a bit like the Brazil / Portugal game.

I`ll go with Holland sneaking it.

The Coleman game of two halves or what. Brazil done nowt in the 2nd half and Holland thoroughly deserved to win.

I`m pleased if only in the knowledge we wont have to listen to all the expletives from these f**kin ITV commentator re Brazil being "the greatest footballing nation on Earth" even though they got knocked out in the Quarters...which---which is only ONE stage further than England got lets not forget ;-)

Was really hoping for a Brazil - Argentina final, so now I recon it'll be a Holland - Argentina. I think it's wide open now and if Spain can up there game they could get to the final over Argentina. Although I really like Spain I really don't want another all European final.

Mind --after earlier games---Europe weren`t looking so good were we.

I dont care now actually although I would like to see Maradonna crying if they lose.

Whats the odds that this commentator in the Uraguay / Ghana game will say something like.... "could that be the end of the African Dream" or "they`ve brought so much to the competition"

Agreed, theres no point paying him off to employ someone less competent just because they are english. I heard redknapp on the radio today claiming england had better players than brazil and holland. This confirms my thoughts it would have been more of the same if he had taken over.

Thing is--- England dont have bad players...each one of em are good, decent players--a few of whom would get into any club side in the World. I honestly dont think Brazil have been very good. Holland, without Robben really lacked width.

I massively believe that if we could somehow mould our lads into a team---and thats the operative word... team, then we`d be much much better.

Would any one of us have swapped the way qualification went? NO.

I dont doubt that england have decent players, however I think some of these pundits forget that life exists outside the premiership and that other countries have good players as well. All qualification really showed was england are better than ukraine and croatia, it didnt count for anything when the tournament started. Saying that from memory holland qualified well and have taken that form over.

Who should Fabio keep / drop ?

Rob Green - not good enough

David James - too old

Joe Hart - keep

Rio Ferdinand - too old

Ashley Cole - keep

Glen Johnson - keep

John Terry - too old

Jamie Carragher - too old

Stephen Warnock - no feelings

Matthew Upson - drop

Ledley King - sick note drop

Gareth Barry - keep

Michael Carrick - drop

Joe Cole - keep

Steven Gerrard - keep

Frank Lampard - too old

Aaron Lennon - drop crap

James Milner - keep

Shaun Wright-Phillips- drop crap

Wayne Rooney - keep

Emile Heskey - too old

Jermain Defoe - keep

Peter Crouch - keep

So I would stick with 11 out of 23 and look for young replacements for the rest and take our chances. What is coming through to take up this slack ? Not a lot...

i'd get rid of glen johnson, can't defend to save his life, absolutely no idea who england would have at right back instead though, not like theres a abundance of good english right backs in england

edit: i wouldn't be surprised at all if the hungary friendly has pretty much exactly the same starting 11 as the team that lost to the germans btw

because they thought they could just turn up and win the thing? the group they got through qualification to get to the world cup was easy to get out of (croatia are getting worse by the year, ukraine likewise), the whole from qualification to the actual world cup itself has just been built up by the media to make the players believe they are 'that' good.

for god knows how long the players have read in the papers etc how 'amazing' / 'the golden generation' and how the whole team is world class, when infact it's nowhere near that. lahm summed it up pretty nice - we haven't been a 'big' team at international level for decades and the rate things are going - we won't be either.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
