I've taken an opposite view, and long ago decided that I won't help validate a corrupt system by giving it my support - I've taken action to have myself removed from the electoral roll, and ever since have been trying to get myself prosecuted for that criminal act (it's required by law that you register).

What I've done has further exposed just how f**ked up the system is, because they refuse to prosecute me and by doing so it gets to show that electoral law is only applied if those in power deem it to be so - it's a clear admission that the system is corrupted to ensure the status quo, and not run in a fair and even manner.

On the subject of the proper vote today, I live in one of the marginal seats and so have found myself in the situation of having to vote for my 2nd choice party in order to keep out the party that I really don't want to win because of how stupid our voting system is

Edit: Just wanted to change me vote to Sinhala to be PM (not that I'm easily bribed or anything! )

I'm sure it would make the news if you were prosecuted. I am interested to see what legislation you think makes it a legal requirement for an individual to register. Nothing jumps out obviously.
