finding your tent / campsite

Having no sense of direction I've found that camping in the roughly same place for 10 years is the only way. All I have to do is find the Hare Krishna tent and from there walk at a 45% angle towards the Orange charge up tent (or what ever incarnation it is that particular year).Look out for us if you're passing

Even then I still get confused although that seems to be in on my way back from the loo first thing.

No problem when I'm drunk and the homing instinct kicks in :P.

One year we did camp somewhere else to be with mates, but it didn't really work.I had to ask my boyfriend to escort me back to tent if I needed something (wussed out more like!). That didn't suit either of us.

By the way those using other peoples flags, gazebos etc. Don't be to dependant on that on the wednesday/thursday night. The landscape can change quite dramatically as people squeeze in an extra tent or decide to move somewhere else.

Especially important when you return later on Wednesday and find a million new tents squeezed into all the gaps.

I don't have a problem finding my tent, as Lucyginger, I have a great homing instinct. The only time I have difficulties is returning to a group in a crowd. It always looks so different from a different perspective, best to take reference of a few landmarks before you leave so that you can find the exact point by aligning up the landmarks.

BUT, if I go off to the toilet or to the bar during the day and my friends are sat by a stage or if at Glasto they are up at the Stone Circle at night I seem to have a complete meltdown and can't find anyone!!!

We've always camped up at the top of Big Ground so we've had the Radio Avalon/Worthy FM mast all lit up as our guide from a distance. Once you get on the path/road to your tent have a point you can identify where you turn off at about 90 degrees to your tent.

This year will be different as we'll be overnighting in Campervan West (though still with a daytime presence in Big Ground) so two places to remember how to find.

We also have a flagpole with a daffodil windsock and some inflatable sheep attached to our tent.

Our tent was a beacon for people last year. 7 metre flag pole with fairy lights up it, 2 long strings of lights over the tent and more lights on the fluffy pink parasol outside the tent. :P

We always have huge flags and then I look for landmarks nearby and try and find the best route to the tent (once some people tried to fence off the camping area they used so we took it apart when they weren't there as they have no right to do so)
