she said No, but you're closer timeline wise.. I was dancing to these guys when I was 16.. I'm now 30. it could be any band, doubt if theyre big enough to be on other stage at same time, wha about haha i dont know

Not really familiar with the flaming lips, i'm a little young i think! Any album suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not massively keen on going to see U2.

haha ok so it is them! wow, i love u2, yet i'd give it up to just see do you realize? Although theyre at pukkelpop...any other announcements to make miss b?

Well if you are a fan of Pink Floyd then they have just done a cover of the whole of Dark Side of the Moon with Peaches (God I LOVE her) and Henry Rollins.

Otherwise I would recommend 'Yoshimi battles the pink robots' as a more recent and popular choice.. but they have been around for a long long time and have done lots of great stuff in varying styles.

They also put on one of THE best stage shows EVER.

I can see it actually, would be a logical counterpoint to U2, a good slot for them, and they are due a return. Yes. Makes sense. Will happen.

seen the lips few times over the years and are 1 of my favourite bands but never seen U2 and they were my fav band years ago

:P:P very sad clash 4 me,prob go to u2 but would of loved to see lips at glasto as didnt see them in 2003 and this looked awesome

but did see this though

please let this be true!

the lips 2003 show was the greatest ever glastonbury performance.

Of course they should be headlining the pyramid, but headlining the other is fine. No band on the planet could follow them on stage.

For those wondering on what album to check out, sadly they dont play their old stuff anymore (and it is a shame as their old stuff is wondrous)

All you have to do is pick up the album The Soft Bulletin and you will understand everything. It is the best album of the 90s.

Also pick up Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, and particularly check out "Do You Realize??", the most perfect song ever written.

Their lastest album, Embryonic, is also sensational. Trippy, Syd Barret era Pink Floyd like psychadelia.

Oh and their live show is unmissable. Put the likes of muse, who people here seem to think are the "best live band EVER", utterly to shame.

This will be the greatest thing to happen at glastonbury since 2003

Wayne always reminds me of David Koresh, so I am always a little on edge when I listen to them as I expect some sort of cult to take possession of my mind and whisk me off to some farm in deepest USA to be shot and burned alive...

Anyway

If The Flaming Lips lash with U2 I will be a very happy man, I love The Flaming Lips and they'd be a great alternative to U2, if it turns out not to be true I'm sure I'll just find someone else to watch. :P

      People seem to have got obsessed about 'secret sets' at all festivals this year even when there aren't any spaces other than, in EOTR's case, the usual late Folly sets that 90%+ of the time are from artists who are already playing. And if it is someone else, I'm sure it won't be a band who played the festival last year.

      I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either

      I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
