Family Guy vs. American Dad vs. The Cleveland Show

Being a huge fan of Seth Macfarlanes animated creations I thought i'd start a thread to discuss them

I reckon American Dad is by far the best, Stan and Roger steal the show

Family Guy is definately a close second, Peter is by far the funniest.

The Cleveland Show is horrendous, whoever thought it'd be a good idea to make his own show was clearly high.

Any fans of any these shows out there?

American Dad is the best of the 3. The last few episodes were awesome. Roger chainsawing off the plane wing in the Olympic medal episode was quality.

I do however diagree with you that the Cleavland show is horrendous. If you can forget he was once in Family Guy it's got some really decent moments in it.

Family Guy has suffered from the same thing that made everyone hate the Simpsons for so many years, It's become repetitive. It's a shame really...still has a few good jokes in it (nah, nah, na, nah i don't work for burger king...im busy.) but i wouldn't watch it if it wasn't hosted ont he same site i watch American Dad on.

Right now.....

American dad is the funniest of the 3 and has been for quite a while. Absolutely hilarious.

Family Guy up to season 3-4 was amazing but since then has been on a downward slope (albeit with the occasional gem)

Cleveland show was terrible the first couple i watched....but i was made to watch one of the latest ones and it seems to be getting better

American dad>Family Guy>Cleveland show

One of the best things about American Dad is that it doesnt need to go for the sometimes risky humour Family Guy does about terrorism 9/11 etc.

Loved when Francine said to Stan. Its sarcasm genius and Stan replies, I understand sarcasm but im hardly a genius thank you.

The Cleveland show does have its moments, but they are few and far between. What makes cartoons like these good is a strong main character; Homer Simpson, Cartman, Peter Griffin, Stan Smith. Cleveland Brown is a weak minor character from Family Guy, so its hardly a surprise he doesn't cut it on his own show. Just having a couple of talking animals/babies to continue the Seth McFarlane formula doesn't make a good show, it was Pete Griffin and Stan Smith that made those shows good.

I personally think that America Dad is the best of the lot - Stan is such a truly brilliant character, and the way he treats Francine is just hilarious. He somehow caricature of idiot republicans likeable, despite his extremely disagreeable views. I can't get enough of that show.

i can't believe people don't like the cleveland show! i wasn't sure what to expect but i think it's really good. loads of laugh out loud moments.

i like all three shows, but i think family guy is the best and then i really can't pick between the cleveland show and american dad.

Family Guy and then American Dad, dont really watch the Cleveland Show.

American Dad can be really funny, but the jokes just aren't as consistently funny as Family Guy.

Does anyone know the name of the American Dad episode where Stan becomes friends with gay neighbours and they find he ran some Republican anti-gay rally or something like that and they've got a poster for it and he keeps trying to explain about it by lying but they they keep ripping bits off the poster that shows he is - "it was just a one time thing" and they rip off a bit that says 5th annual etc.

I`ve came to these shows a bit late... the last thing of a similar ilk I watched was that King on the Hill. I`m not sure which series of FG I`m catching on BBC3--but i am pissin mesell some nights.

Y`know---its not that often i actually GUFFAW whilst sat on me own... but FG in particular make me.

AD is quite similar and does have its hilarious point whilst Cleveland--- touch and go. Some bits are funny, but lots of it aint too good.

american dad is BY FAR the best of the 3.

the best animated comedy episode of any animated comedy series, is the one in american dad where roger throws a dead owl through steve's window telling steve he's going to hogwarts. Roger takes him to a house which turns out to be a drug den but steve still thinks its hogwarts, he turns out to be great at making "potions" and at the end of the episode he comes home with some "homework" which leads up to the funniest bit of american dd ive seen (imo) here: (roger dressed up as tony montana haha!)
