late night bars

The next WBC Organisers meeting is on the 24th April and that is normally the time they hand out the Bar grid for Glastonbury { and they normally list the times } but due the fact that the WBC intends to coach in all the staff on the Tuesday { note 1 } its ' likely ' that more bars will be open than last year for the Wednesday but I will have to wait until the meeting to know for sure.

You are correct that there was a trial of running some bars 24 hour's per day but my information was it was not cost effective so the WBC Council may decide not to have them this year.

Most WBC bars in 2009 were open until 2am/3am/4am it all depends on the location.

Brian

Note 1 - This is a complete change from other years when coaches would arrive over several days hence why some bars did not open until Thursday evening.By getting all the staff on site by the Tuesday it would make more sense to have them all open from the Wednesday but I could be wrong.

I wonder if any of you can tell me which bar I was in last year?

It was somewhere up in the trash city/shangri-la area. There was a back gate that just happened to open as we passed and in we went. It was a little courtyard garden affair inside - not very big. We left at 6 ish when they closed and went to Roots Cafe in Undle Ground for breakfast. This was on the monday morning. Great way to end the festi!

Any ideas?

I dont know the name but I drank in the courtyard on a couple of occasions. I think the real entrance was around the corner up another street in SL. It was a lovely little place especially by day. We had a great time playing with 2 little kids getting painted by them with wet mud. I appreciated drinking cider via waitress service too. :P

Some customers late at night seal their fate even before they have placed their order - shouting ' Hey C*unt I want a drink ' Take it from me he got bugger all .

Bar staff don't mind a bit of banter but late at night its best for Customers not to chance their arm.

one of my pet hates from when I've worked in bars was people waving notes at you...great you have a tenner..now wait for your turn

lucky enough I received my conformation that my WBC bid for Glastonbury has been accepted although its likely that some Teams will get cut back as the WBC is only running eight large public bars this year - don't have all the details yet but as far as I am aware some of the smaller bars are going to be run by Shelter working for a new company called Avalon Bars and Events so there is going to be bars being moved about this year - so you may never find some small bars.

Its not certain if there is going to be a price war between the different Companies although I don't expect there will be much in it.

By the way although all the places have been filled you can still get your name on the waiting list at Volunteer at Glastonbury

The deadline for the whole year with the WBC has already passed and even although I am a WBC Organiser there is no way I can change my bids this year.

Good luck for anyone still trying to buy tickets - it used to be a lot more simple when I used to go as a normal Punter.

Cheeky feckers. I worked at the Reading bar one year and people tried to scam me a few times. Say, order 6 pints and then when you think you're done, order one more. When you turn around to get the last one, if you haven't already got they're money they'll try and disappear....
