It'd be great actually - mobiles have made people lazy and (an absolute pet hate) late for things. Before, you agreed to meet somewhere, somewhen and you were damn well there. Now you can run later and call en route saying you're 'delayed'.

Pah. Winds me up. If you say 'let's meet at half seven' I will be there for half seven. Not 8, not 8.30, not 9.30, but 7.30. I hate lateness because more often than not, there's absolutely no good reason for it except crass laziness.

I'd love it if phones were banned at Glasto.

The Guardian and the serious journalism it represents is in decline as many young and not so young people seem more interested in spending their time killing thousands of virtual people in fantasy war games than reading in depth coverage of the horrors of real wars that persist across the world. No big surprise there, descriptions of real conflict, orphaned and maimed children, written down on the page, always were hard to stomach. I really think that this society has a problem here. Many seek to justify highly visually realistic killing in games as harmless escapism for adults. I'm really not so sure about this. How can you play these games then read a first hand account of six year old Palestinian girl who has seen her parents heads blown apart and feel the correct revulsion when you have been fantasising about doing the very same thing for the past three hours? Nothing wrong with the karaoke/rock star type games if that is your thing but I will never accept that sponsorship by a company that promotes these war fantasies is right. I know many of you will defend these games, but put your hand on your heart and say that it doesn't kink your awareness of natural morality even just a little bit. A small de-sensitisation to killing is a big thing.

The karaoke will be a Playstation no doubt. Sony make Playstions regardless of whether they are available for use at this tent

There are many things I've never done at Glasto but the relevant ones to this discussion appear to be:

1. I've never been in the Orange Tent

2. I've never been in the Guardian Lounge

3. I've never drunk any so-called beer supplied by Carlsberg/Tuborg/Budweiser etc

4. I've never drunk any so-called cider supplied by Gaymers

5. I've never been in the Queens Head or whatever it was called before that

6. I've never done karaoke [##]

7. I've never used a mobile other than to do an ET jobbie when I've arrived and set up

8. I've never played electronic games of any flavour at any time so anything PS related will never get visited

9. I've never yet done anything computer/email related and NEVER will do

So there ya go. Just cos they're bunging some do$h in a Glasto stylee direction doesn't mean they're going to get anything back from it ! If you don't like the involvement of any organisation/product or don't like something that's being provided on site then vote with feet/ears/whatever and all that. If they don't see some form of return from their investment then they're not likely to be keeping it up for long ! However, even if their advert is wasted on me, if it is popular then so be it. Similarly, just because the likes of Play Station, iPod, Millets, iTunes and so on advertise in the Q Daily, doesn't mean I take any notice and nor does it mean that there is any remote chance of me buying Q Mag other than the Glasto review issue every year ... then regretting it bigtime and vowing never again Ditto NME if not more so Having said that, much as I dislike corporate sponsorship of any kind, I do recognise it's importance to the bank A/C.

Anyways ... Play Station has been involved since at least 2007 of course so why the sudden vocal dislike of them sponsoring something at the festival ?

Firstly - what is the 'correct' revulsion? Secondly, I can separate fantasy life and real life very easily.
