Although this news sounds spot on, I still have a little doubt in my mind about it.

Are these 3 unlikely bedfellows from Rob Da Banks Twitter comment and dont we usually share a headliner with TinthePark.

Im still thinking we are yet to have a big suprise: Something like;

BLINK 182, EMINEM and GUNS N ROSES with Arcade Fire headlining the NME tent

Neil, same applies to you, you announced GnR today like you came up with it.

oh do f**k off. I did no such thing. I simply posted the info I had.

It was Keese, who brought up Libertines, you never even mentioned them.

I've talked headliners. They're not a headliner.

And they weren't mentioned by me because I'd had a mass of very well sourced info over very many months, all of which said they'd turned down 2010 but would play 2011. I was avoiding throwing something in which wasn't of relevance to this year, and which might not have happened after all next year.

This year you haven't got the lineup correctly on your own or of your "sources"

I know. I've not said anything different to this.

But I did get two of them right (the third I didn't ever say was right), and I did get no Green Day right - and had a large amount of people saying what I'd said was defo wrong. Including Keese. :P

If the Libertines are "special guests" does that mean they won't be announced Monday and they'll try to keep them under wraps longer?

Nah .... it's gonna be all over next week's NME (including an interview with them).

For many people, that's going to be better than porn but will bring about much the same effect. :P:P:P

to be fair neil just announced who it was.

he said no info on guns, keese had it, but neil didnt rule it out

they both said yes blink

arcade fire all we knew was keese having no info n not until recently telling neil so he says they weren't heading so neil was right on that.

wether neil knew libs were a good chance this year but not headlining but then until the annuncement the idea of them playing lower than 2nd/co-headline hadn't been raised.

so one each both with no ifo, 1 each both the same

neither called each other wrong

Until Keese posted it, I'd have said (and did say to some) that there was no chance of the Libs this year, because I was aware they'd long ago agreed to play next year and not this year.

I'd love to know what it was that's changed things. It might come out, or it might not.

I'm not quite sure why Neil appears to be getting criticism here. He got 2 out of the three headliners (including Arcade Fire who no-one saw coming, and then sticking to them when things appeared to suggest they weren't.) One of the things that makes Efestivals so reliable is the fact that he'll wait until he has the information from a trusted source, rather than just making guesses up based on what others might be saying. If that means he's sometimes slightly slower with a prediction, then so be it.

Anyway, after that slightly sucking up paragraph, I'm pretty happy with the headliners. I'll happily see all three headliners if there's nothing that grabs me on the other stages, and though I was never a massive fan, The Libertines will be interesting, and a coup for the festival, in spite of the nonsensical 'they're only big cos he's a druggie,' posts.

Neil, are we to sasume then that MCR are playing below GnR?

Maybe a late booking, which would explain rumours of them maybe headlining.

Kind of annoyed by these headliners. Usually on the indie day i can go to the lock up, but theyve pretty much chosen the only 2 big indie bands i like. And i love Blink and GnR. Could be some horrible clashes in store :P

Still better to be complaining about that, than about the awful headliners (like lst year :P )
