that Ash will be plating the John Peel stage this year! The drummer told my friend who was interviewing him for radio. I am not a massive Ash fan but I saw then at Glasto before and they were good. So just thought i would share this info with you peeps!

Roll on June !!!!!!! :P

That's brilliant news! Great to see them finally back in the small bands tent, after the ridiculousness of their sorry arses getting onto the pyramid stage one time.

Sorry, i know we shouldn't slag off bands on here and so on. But really, i was there in '96, Ash were second rate and over hyped then ('they're great because they're so young / the drummer's still doing his A Levels' and so on).

I'd really hate to think that the popular feeling at the time had been forgotten with the rose tinted spectacles of the past.

No, i mean '96, the year they became big in the charts, played the manchester academy, were on TOTP and so on.

Did see them at Glasto though, sure it was 1999 before Hole when Bush cancelled, but wikipedia says otherwise. Hmm.

They sucked then too.

I never fully know how I feel about Ash

They have a real eye for a killer pop tune.

They also have an unabashed penchant for dross filler on their album - and in recent years the dross/killer ratio has been massively weighted to the former.

They can be really hit and miss live. I've seen them a couple of times and they've been outstandingly good fun. A couple of other times it's been full on phoned in.

Still, good news overall, JP tent is the best for them. Nice hot and sweaty, let's play Goldfinger
