blacklisting thieves at glastonbury

i vaguely remember reading about some kind of system where thieves from previous years are blacklisted and not allowed into next years festivals. and also thieves from other major festivals across the country. i think it may have been done through the photo tickets.

has anyone seen anything about this or am i completely making this up in my head?

Impossible for see to cope with! See struggle with tickets let alone ticket management!

Theoretically possible with facial recognition s/w, however, impractical for Glastonbury due to:

1) Quality of photos submitted will be nowhere near sufficient standard required by the s/w.

plus

2) Most thieves won't have been tagged as such as the majority simply aren't caught.

The lock ups offer a fantastic free service. Use them and relax whilst you are away from your tent. With as many people on site equal to the population of a major English town there are inevitably a selection of low lifes knocking about. Lock up your stuff or take valuables with you and bo11ocks to the thieves.

Sleep with cash in your pocket. My tent was broken into a few years ago whilst I was asleep but cash was in my combats which I had on ! My mate next door had his bum bag whipped with all his cash in, it was left handily near the tent entrance.

no matter what the festivals do theives that are banned will simply be replaced by new theives.

I (touchwood) have never been robbed at a festival but did wake up last year wednesday night at glasto (which was the fest I least expected it to happen at) with someone going through my tent with a tourch.

its ashame we cant be more contental at Rock Am ring Germany people bring all sorts of valueables including laptops and ipods so they can party into the night. and have no problem leaving these things in thier tents all day as robbing simply doesn't exist.

Coin, Stella, valubales .. lock ups, everything else like clobber & toiletries/smellies etc - tent :P

Dunno how easy it'd be but in a perfect world i'd ban I.P addys, bank account numbers, addresses/names & whatever else. Most would probably easily get past the deterrent .. but it's a start lol.

Throw the lock up people a few quid too at the end of the festival if you've got it, really sound people, shared a few late night stories with them :P & they'll look after your stuff for the whole of the festival and they do it for free :P

I seem to remember that the Police had done a bit of intelligence work before the festival season

and knew the identity of one major gang , and they were picked up as they left home for

one of the major festivals.

And I think registration numbers of the cars of suspects were circulated around different Police

forces.

i think anyone caught thieving should be put in stocks on the pyramid stage every morning before the bands come on and we should be given any gone off food to launch at them :P:P

or as my wife suggests take them up to the farm and wash them down with shit :P:P:(

In '94 me and a couple of mates came across the aftermath of some twat getting caught trying to steal off some travellers. He got a right kicking and while I don't like violence, you have to wonder what the biggest deterant was afterwards - the cops or a severe booting?

I spread my money throught my gear and in places that arent soo obviously. Thats my advice to anyone dont keep all your money in one place. And the beauty of this is that you'll probably find £40 or so when unpacking your bag after the festy is over.
