Daytime Sleepin

Guest Badlands

Last year we set off midnight on Tuesday so that we could get down to Glasto for opening time. Whilst we managed to miss the traffic for the day it left me knackered and took the wind out of my sale for the first day and a half (no sleep see!!).

We're doing the same this year and once again I don't expect to get any sleep on the journey down. Can anyone recommend somewhere to sneak off and catch a cheeky hours nap? The problem with my tent is it gets far too hot in the daytime.

Strange request I know....

Hammock stall in the jazz field?

A quiet corner of the green fields. There's probably a "mediation space" or similar they wouldn't mind you kipping in :P

Shangri La is dead in the daytime. You could easily sleep there.

I'm sure people have slept in the Cinema tent previously but not 100% sure.

I know what you mean about not wanting to sleep in your own tent in the day from experience :P

EDIT: Ukslim's suggestion of looking around the Greenfields sounds reasonable.

Almost always get a sneaky nap in every afternoon, usually right up the top RHS of Kings Meadow or occasionally somewhere Greenfields in general but the new Flagtopia bit would be just as good if not better. No probs at all if it's nice 'n' sunny but it's back to the tent for an hour mid afternoon otherwise. When sleeping al-fresco and all that, waking up all crispy lobster style or with a red and white panda face is NOT good so defo don't forget slapping on the old sunscreen and hat etc. or you'll regret it bigtime :P

Definitely Greenfields, Stones or Cinema tent.

I've slept in all three areas quite soundly :P

I found the best place to sleep was the cinema tent but you do get woken up occassionally by people cheering or clapping. It can be quite disorientating depending on how sleepy you are. I woke up there once thinking everyone was clapping for me!!! :P

We had the same problem last year too, on the bus for 13hours then kept partying til saturday and by saturday we were sooo tired but the tent was too hot to sleep in.

We found a shadey tent in the healing field where people were lying on rugs on the floor listening to some of the most beautiful music ive ever heard. A small band were playing mellow music with digeredoo and soft guitar and it was lush so we lay down for a while on the floor and dozed, the music was so good though i wanted to stay awake to listen to it. Take a hoodie to rest your head on though, i only had my bag and it wasnt much of a pillow!

I would second up at the stone circle though. It was nice and peaceful up there in the day, perfect for a snooze.

It is very relaxing right up at the top of The Park hill. If you are tired enough you are sure to nod off there despite the bands coming on the stage. You can hear it but its not too loud not to have a nap. I agree-taking a nap in your tent is very uncomfortable during the day

blistering hot sun last year and 17 hour plus journey meant my 10 year old was absolutely knackered so after a mooch we ended up in the krishna tent, rythmic drumming and a lovely cool breeze flowing through and he was well away for a few hours.

Just remembered, in '08 I had a great kip on a huge beanbag at the big cafe/tent (? sorry, this prob has a proper name, just can't think of it!) at Avalon. They had a folk band on and it was soooooooooo comfortable and relaxing. And when I woke up it had stopped raining! :P

Peace

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
