I've noticed a few acts have appeared on the rumours page today.

I've never heard of any of them, would anyone recommend any of them?

Aynsley Lister Band

Bex Marshall

Dave Arcari

Ian Siegel

Marcus Bonfanti and the Bad Boys

The Oli Brown Band

Can I expect some decent blues sounds from any of these? Educate me.

Joe Bonamassa is at the Crossroads festival in the USA the glastonbury weekend, which is a pity because I saw him at the royal albert hall last year and he is brilliant live!

Lister does a lot of tutoring videos on youtube too, he's really very talented, but some of his own stuff is a little week... Oli is a blinder, though i'm not a massive fan of his album, he's an incredible guitarist. I read a thing on him that Johnny winter had really pushed him to the top and gave him a lot of support. I think he'd be great live, certainly of a thursday or something.

But to be honest, of a modern blues guitarists, there really is only Joe Bonamassa worth mentioning. All these kids can play, along with the likes of Kenny wayne sheperd, and larry miller [though he's older], but personally i think joe bonamassa is the best contempory blues guitarist around. Ie - last 10 years.

He'd be a fantastic addition.

This is indeed good news. It should be for Jazz and Blues though and not left to drift off into soul funk or hip hop ect....Just hope they have some knowledge on who to book...best they look on here for suggestions, and don't leave it up to Emily.... :P:P:P

I wonder if this is this the (sort-of) return of what was the Jazz Lounge ? Although it was something that I rather regrettably never ever stumbled across, I seem to remember there was a fair few complaints last year cos it had been dropped (along with Leftfield) after several years. Defo need to make sure that manage to find it at some point in time this year I think !

Yet more bad news for the jazz community comes with reports that the Glastonbury Festival’s Jazz Lounge has been cancelled by the festival organisers due to current economic conditions. ...

linky to report last year.

Yep, your absolutely right mate, how f**king stupid of me to forget. I've got his latest songsheet dvd and its incredible. Maybe he could top Bonamassa at certain points, i've never had the pleasure of seeing DT, but i first heard him on my allmans live at the beacon show and it blew me away. He's married to Susan Tedschi too, another fantastic modern blues artist.

Derek trucks band would be a stormer at glasto, but i got a feeling they'll be with the rest of the gods at Clapton's crossroads fest at the same time!

Yep, no question that he'll be with the Allman's at Crossroads.

However that show is only Saturday the 26th...maybe he can hop the same plane as U2 for Friday?...:P

I saw Susan Tedschi a couple years back. I wholeheartedly agree...she is fantastic!

Since it's somewhat relevent as to who might be available, I went to the crossroads site and found this list:

Confirmed Artist Listing

Albert Lee

Allman Brothers Band

BB King

Bert Jansch

Buddy Guy

David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos

Doyle Bramhall II

Earl Klugh

Eric Clapton

Gary Clark Jr.

Hubert Sumlin

James Burton

Jeff Beck

Jimmie Vaughan

Joe Bonamassa

John Mayer

Jonny Lang

Keb Mo

Pino Daniele

Robert Cray

Robert Randolph

Sheryl Crow

Sonny Landreth

Stefan Grossman

Steve Winwood

Vince Gill

ZZ Top

One interesting thing that jumped out at me was that Robert Cray is playing Dublin on Tuesday the 29th. I doubt he'd be able to get over fast enough to play Glasto, but it appears that he's heading straight from Crossroads Fest to Europe...so, I guess with planning there is a slim chance that some of those folks could get to Glasto by Sunday.
