Primal Scream mark 20 years since the creation of their mind-blowing landmark Screamadelica by playing the album in its entirety for the first time on 27th November at Olympia Grand Hall.

Since its release in September 1991, Screamadelica has been hailed as the defining musical statement of the 90s, often one of the greatest albums of all time.

It scooped the first Mercury Music Prize in 1992 while the late Paul Cannell’s cover design was recently chosen as one of the Royal Mail’s ten classic rock album stamps.

Primal Scream have never performed some of the songs live before while many have not been played for years. To fully realise them the band will be expanding the lineup with gospel choir, brass section and singer Denise Johnson rejoining for the night.

Screamadelica was released to universal acclaim, which has remained and even risen ever since, following Select magazine’s lead of voting it the top album of the 90s.

‘We’ve actually made a classic record which people will be able to listen to in 40 years time and it will sound as relevant as it does now,’ said Bobby Gillespie at the time.

Having reached the halfway mark, Primal Scream are bringing Screamadelica into the 21st century for a whole new trip, which will only happen once.

Now I see your point on this I really do...... New material, clinging onto old sh1t, just for the money etc....

But sometimes, it really is worth it.

I am waiting for the Levellers to do Levelling the land in its entirety......

I am sure they have done it and I have missed it, but I would die a happy man......

They did A Weapon Called the Word last year so this year would be good......

Tour in March, including SECC.

Screamadelica’s still an album which holds up incredibly well 20 years later. You’re going out to play the whole thing later this year, aren’t you?

Yeah, we’re doing two nights at the Olympia in London, then next March I think it is, we’ve got a tour. Playing the SECC in Glasgow and a few more, I think we’ve got about 11, 12 dates. But yeah, sold out two nights at the Olympia – 20,000 people. It’s great that 20,000 people want to hear a record we made 20 years ago. But it’s a great record so, you know, I’m cool with that.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
