I wonder if Emily would consider getting the Fine Guide changed to include something about Flags in there, and asking people to be considerate to others. Has anyone suggested that?

I'm going to take a flag 200ft across and 50ft high with 'Emily Eavis is a slag' on it and stand right in front of the stage, if anyone tells me to move it I'll tell them to f**k off becuase its all part of the festival experience :P

If people have made the effort to take flags down to the front of the stages then are asked to put them down in the middle of a crowd, where exactly are they going to put them? They are likely to club someone in the head or have thier eye out, and then subsequently the flags and poles will wrecked by feet stamping on them. Unless flag wavers are made to leave or not enter the stage area in the first place, then they are for the reasons above, very unlikely to just "put the flags down".

may i suggest one of these instead...

chainsaw.jpg

extends to 14' and is more than capable of destroying even the sturdiest flag pole and if the flag waving knob end takes offence and gets arsey about it you can take his arms off with it and end his flag waving days forever :P

Damn, I can't believe there was an official poll on the flag issue and I missed it! Why didn't anyone 'flag' it up?? Oh well...

I love the way they promoted the 'magic' the flags add ...and as proof provided a photo of the view from the top of the mixing desk tower! :P Some disconnect from the nature of the issue at GF HQ there methinks. I'll withdraw my objection if they let me up there :P

Any comments are always appreciated and we have already planned to put a

number of your suggestions into practice (check out the Fine Guide when

it comes out later in the year!).

Hope that answers your question.

I just got an email reply from Glastonbury Festivals after I complianed about flags:

Thank you for your email regarding the flags at the Festival.

We received such diverse opinions after the Festival last year that we

felt it would be interesting to hear everybody's feedback, hence the

poll on our website.

Our festival-goers mean a lot to us and it is very important to us to

know how you are feeling about things. Because of the response last year

(mostly by email) we felt this was the most straight-forward way of

listening.

Thanks for getting in touch. Here is a link to our website with the

latest on the poll:
