All you do is move the same problem backwards, with presumably an arcing wall from the sound desk to the speaker stacks/screens. This then incentivises more people to move forward to be in front of the wall of flags and cause overcrowding.

They really haven't got a clue have they? A simple 'no flags during bands performance policy' is all it would take.

well the voting has finished by the look of it .i cant see emily doing any thing about the flags this year

1. They sway the voters by telling them their choice.

2. They don't make it clear in the title or the voting boxes that they mean just the pyramid stage...

An utter waste of an opportunity to find out the truth about flags....

disagree with that - is still the school season, i havent noticed a perceptible change in the percentages of age groups going to the festival since 93.

what i have noticed, and who i have noticed with the flags, is a HUGE increase in the middle classes since it became 'safe'. the vast majority of flags dont move, they make camp in the pryamid stage and have their flags because jaspers terrified of not being able to see james blunt with tarquin and he might miss out on the cheese that goes round afterwards.

The reason there are so many flags now compared to a few years ago, is due to a couple of stalls selling sh!T, bland flags and telescopic poles. If they got rid of these stalls, that would get rid of at least half the flags in one stroke, and not need a complete ban.

Who knows? , we (us punters who have paid £180 for a ticket) may even be able to see a few bands, with out having to crwal in to the mosh pit!!!

Argg. So agree. What a stupid thing to put up: 'ban all flags or keep them', when the real issue

obviously is silly amounts of flags in front of the stage during performances.

Almost like they did not want to get a negative result so they won't have to bother asking people to put

them down during show time.

As you might remember, last week we posted a poll to see what you folks thought about the subject of banning flags in front of the Pyramid stage. Well, the poll closed at 3pm today, and the final result is as follows (we have filtered out all duplicate votes).

- No, keep the flags (7269 votes) - 55%

- Yes, ban the flags (5909 votes) - 45%

So, it's a narrow win for "keeping". Big thanks to everyone for taking part. As well as the result itself, it's been really useful to get an idea of the passion this debate raises among festival-goers, by reading your comments across the web.

If they just stopped people bringing flags that advertise stuff and football/rugby etc flags it wouldnt be a problem, i like the quirky flags they do help the atmosphere and they are fun. The problem last year was there were too many pointless flags. If your going to bring one at least have a bit more imagination.

Personally i hate the fold up chairs in the main stage pit area the most!!! *fumes*

I'm more concerned that all the whining will carry on until and during the festival itself, when I won't be able to HEAR the sodding singer because of the irritating drone of disgruntled punters.

Take it to trading standards.

It speaks volumes that this thread is one of the longest on this board if you ask me. All the great acts rumoured/confirmed and this thread is longer than them? Pah.

I don't like the flags, but will it stop me enjoying the show? Will it bollocks. Get over it, people.

I agree that there will be a lot of great acts there, I'd just like to be able to see the performance they are going to put on for us.
