Use Wednesday / Thursday wisely. Bimble around to the farthest point from your campsite to see what's there. Chances are that by the time the main stages kick off you'll never get round to getting out there again. Take your time, chill out and enjoy the sunshine :P - when you come back next year (which you will) you can be the expert for your newbie friends who you've been rabbitting on and on to for the past 12 months about how good it is!.

Hard to keep it to one tip. I second all the above.

If there has to be one above all it must be Bog Roll. Carry enough in your pocket at all times - you never know when the urge may come upon you.

A close second is split your money around your pockets and a close third is invest in decent walking boots.

If you're travelling by train, the nearest station is Castle Cary. It's not within walking distance of the festival, but there are free shuttle buses. If the buses get delayed (as has happened for the last two years with unforeseen problems disrupting the traffic plan) you can end up with a big crowd & a fair wait, and Castle Cary isn't the biggest station in the world.

Tip here is keep a drink and a snack / choccy bar / pasty handy in your bag. Other than an expensive burger van, there's nothing else available at the station, and if you're there for a couple of hours, you get thirsty & peckish!

Tip 2 if travelling by train, reserve a seat if you're travelling out of London Paddington. If it's busy, trains will be loaded with people booked to be on that train first, then remaining spaces filled first-come-first-served from the queuing pen that will be in place.

Final train tip, don't bother wasting your time looking for cheap tickets to Castle Cary. FGW know the demand is there, so will only make a handful of cheaper Advance tickets available for each train. If you're entitled to a 16-25 railcard you'll save 1/3, and that's about as good as it gets, and will probably save you more than the £26 it costs (and you've still got the card to use for the rest of the year too).

haha yea be careful at castle cary...always police and dogs, same goes for London - they know they can fill their quotas easily by being at castle cary/paddington whilst the fest is on

my main tip would be, make sure you can make your way back to your tent, when you get there, all camped etc...walk around and then walk back to your tent..make a mental note of what its near, any distinguishable flags etc to aid in finding your tent!

don't just go straight for it, onto the brothers cider..then stone circle and before you know it it's dark..you've lost your mates and not a CLUE where your tent is!

Mine would be - forget bog roll - take pocket tissues. They are much more portable and stay nice. clean. fresh & usable in your pocket or bag all day regardless of the weather. They are just as cheap as bog roll from the £ shop.

To prevent the early morning tent cook off, take some space blankets (you can normally get 2 for £1 in - guess................ Poundland!) and some washing line pegs. Peg these to the outside of your tent. They do make a rustling noise but then they deflect some of the heat in the morning. Stops you waking up in a pool of your own sweat :P

1. Leave some flexibility in your packing, check the weather forecast and pack accordingly. Take sandals, sun cream and hat if it's going to be sunny. Take extra clothes and waterproofs if it's going to be cold and wet. Sun cream is so important. I have suffered without it.

2. As defence against rain: ziplock bags! Keep your pants in a ziplock bag. Keep your socks in a ziplock bag. Keep your spare phone batteries in one. Keep your toilet paper in one (cheaper and less wasteful than buying pocket packs of tissues).

If driving leave a change of clothes, including shoes, in the car. If it's muddy, a dry clean set of clothes can make all the difference to a nightmare exit from the carpark.

A cheating second tip - Talk to randoms. Be it your near camping neighbours, people at bars or in crowds, glasto people are in the main some of the friendliest people you'll meet.

Beat me to it ! I was just typing this very tip as yours appeared, so after a hasy edit I'll readily second what you've just said - 'Forget Bog Roll'. Instead, buy a large packet of handy tissues - the ones that have about 12 small packets of tissues in them. Multiple advantages over bog roll:

- No one knows you're off for a dump as they fit discretely in your pocket

- Can be carried 24 hours so can go whenever and wherever

- Each packet comes in its own resealable wrapper so if it rains they don't get soggy

- You can buy nice moisture infused ones - a much appreciated little luxury (Avoid the Olbas Oil ones though - there's a post on here somewhere about the consequences :P ).- Thicker than bog roll for when Glastoenteritis kicks in
