All time legends that haven't played Glasto

I couldn't believe the quote about Paul Simon, especially as the only true legends left to play (and the most fitting) are S and G.

Lo and behold, a quick Google reveals it's NOT Paul SIMON - it's Paul Simonon!

What's wrong with you youngsters!

Yes - Paul on his own would be excellent as well - I'm lucky enough to have seen both solo and S and G together. PS is without doubt the greatest living songwriter (yes over P Mc and L Cohen - who are both wonderful).

BTW - Strummer at GB was boring and I'm sure the Clash would have been the same. One of the most overated bands ever.

Has James Taylor ever played?

He is doing a tour with Carole King that starts in Australia in March and ends in Boston on June 19th. They have a final one-off stand at Tanglewood on July 3rd & 4th.

The backing band is stellar too: Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel, and Lee Sklar.

Maybe they could make a quick detour of Boston to the UK for Glastonbury?

Just looked at Santana's website, he seems to have a residency in Vegas for February, but, intriguingly has one show booked in for the end of May in Lisbon.Vegas thing might mean that he's all about the dollar for the moment, so GF might not be his bag cash wise. However he is a canny lad and might be persuaded about the benefits of a headlining slot at GF in boosting a flagging profile. Could be an outsider. I for one would be more than pleased.

Yep Kylie. She is still due a slot after cancelling a few years ago due to her unfortunate illness. I wonder if she might pop up for a bit of a comeback. Not my cup of tea personally, don't think she could pull it of without the stage costume changes etc. that define her big shows.

Another one is the news that Spandau Ballet are playing Newmarket racecourse Firday 25th June. I could quite easy see them filling the Shaky/Status Quo Saturday Breakfast slot or perhaps wrapped around the Sunday novelty slot, being filled by the great Andy Williams this year, if he is still gong strong in 6 months.

Sting HAS played. Did a stunning and very memorable sunset slot on the Sunday at the Pyramid in 97. When he played Fields of Gold, you just couldnt help but fix your gaze on the far off Tor.

I was stood at the back of the field at my campsite watching the Police WITH the Police who were hanging and watching nearby. Brilliant and a beautiful moment :P

Steve Winwood was supposed to play just after but he had laryngitis and pulled out. Still gutted about that...especially the Kula Shaker replacement...whoopdif**kingdoo :P

    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
    • Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
