LOST Season 6 !

To be completely honest, the ending was utter crap wasn't it. So much unexplained, and although I like a little spiritual mystery, it was all a bit underwhelming.

It was shit writing, making it up as they went over the 6 seasons, thus being unable to actually answer the questions raised. It was intriguing and interesting a couple of seasons back before it started to become all about faith and destiny.

Come on! In reality how many of you are dissatisfied and pissed off with the end?

I reckon the guys who made Lost watched the end of the Sopranos and went "Way Hay! We can so that! We can leave it open to their imagination! Brilliant! As we are f**ked trying to tie this shit together for real!!"

From the outset Lost gave you the impression that you would get hard answers to the mysteries it threw up.....at some stage......to give you a wishy washy end to it all in which you basically have to work out some meaning yourself is bull shit!

It should of all been on a silver plater for you as a way of saying thanks for putting up with our crap for the last 6 seasons!

They had no clue how it was going to end IMO...........and used the way in which they did as a "catch all" hopefully explaing away any questions people had left......

I personaly think that after a long ass program such as this you should not still need to discuss " if this it what it was" or "this is what I took from it" or "then how do you explain....." etc etc.........

Weak ass ending..........

FAIL

Me and the missus have already pledged to sit through it from start to finish (the entire show) and watch it with different eyes....I admit there will probably be a fair bit of opportunity to fast forward, in the grand scheme of things.

I have to say that I was quite pleased with the ending (was quite worried beforehand that I would feel let down!). The fact that there are questions left unanswered is something I like, that's what life is like after all & I would have hated it if everything had been sewn up all neatly. I like ambiguous things that I get to discuss/confused about! :P

The way I see it (& have read from people involved in the show) is this:

- the plane crash did happen, as did all of the events on the island

- the rest of the events were in a 'purgatory' world where people wait once they die. Until they reconnect with the significant people from their lives, they can't move on - this is only the ones we saw reconnecting were in the church

- Ben doesn't go into the church because although he is repentant, he has not yet made that connection with his special person/people?

- the island keeps the balance between good & evil, that's its role & it always needs someone to protect it

- candidates more about defeating MIB/smoke monster as this was something Jacob couldn't do but needed to as he was responsible for its creation?

- the show was essentially about good & evil, friendship & love, fate vs free will, science vs faith - not a sci-fi series as such, that was all just the setting/to illustrate the nature of people

Of course I might be completely wrong! :P

Where I do think that Lost could have been improved though is the looseness of the whole thing - half the stuff in series 2-4 could have been dropped & a more tight, planned show made. Have heard though that the ending from where Jack walks into the church until he dies is exactly what the writers had planned from the very beginning - they always said they knew how they were going to end it but not necessarily how they were going to get there!

seriously bummed out by the lack of answers

i've been watching this show for 6 years, thats 6 years of question i have been waiting for answers for....

now people keep saying "i'm happy with the ending, you dont want everything spoon fed to you"

WELL I'D LIKE TO SEE THE EXISTENCE OF THE f**kING SPOON?!

all they answered was that the flash backs/forwards/sideways in the last series were to purgatory

i honestly, didnt give a shit whether it was purgatory or not

i want to know the answers to the shit thats been going on in series 1-5!!!!

who built the temple?

why?

what was "woman" who looked after Jacob and his brother? (how did she kill the village of men?)

what is the light?

why didn't jack and desmond turn into smoke?

why couldnt jacob and Lostzilla leave the island?

why could they not hurt each other?

what gave Jacob all his powers?

what gave Walt his powers?

how did whitmore know so much about the island?

what did he want to do with the island?

what did jacob tell him to do at the island?

what happened to christian shepherds body?

why could hurley see dead people?

why were there so many ghosts?

what were the whispering voices?

why did the island need to be protected?

why did spinning the wheel move the island?

why could women not get pregnant on the island?

why could sun?

why did people go crazy on the island?

now i know answering all or even half of those questions would lead to the show seeming stupid, but the fact that they answered next to none makes it look REALLY stupid

all the people that have been telling me for years that the writers make it up as they go along, seem to be right?!

ahem

apart from the fact the writers f**ked us, i very much enjoyed the last episode (apart from the last 10 minutes) and have enjoyed all 6 series very much so, and would high reccomend it to anyone :P

i feel the same way as nightcrawler, just not as ranty seeing how it's a tv show and nothing's going to change how it ended. So many dead ends though, and the whole rules bit between jacob and MiB (didn't even find out his sodding name! ) was bollocks, since jack became the new protector, and him and mib had no problem kicking seven shades out of each other and stabbing one another.

Walt, another none starter, why keep on bringing him back if you're never going to get a conclusion.

Also jack and kate ending up together was a load of shit. If it was like hell in the flashforwards then why were they soulmates? Sawyer threw himself out a helicopter for you, you squinty eyed schlag!

Thinking about it, I honestly think the lost writers are having a laugh at their fellow tv peers. Think about it, how many shows get cancelled with nothing tied up? Lost got to end it on their terms, with three seasons notice, and respond by answering nothing.

Now it's turned into a rant!

for your last bit in the first paragraph, that was obvious. the light went out and that changed everything. it meant that mib could now leave and that they're obviously were no rules anymore.

i can't even remember the deal with walt anymore, so i just forgot about him. much like i did rose and bernard. and shannon.

Some valid points but agree with the post at the bottom that the triggers are more resolution rather than true love:

"Well, I started reading, got bored and then flew to the end. And the reason I got bored was that you've totally misunderstood the memory catalyst for each person. It wasn't true love, it was resolution. Most of the relationships were unresolved, which is why Kate wasn't awakened by Jack, but by Claire giving birth to Aaron; the unresolved issue in her life was with Claire and her own mistaken motherhood. Jack (the kid was obviously a desire not to repeat the mistakes his father made) was 'set free' by dealing with the death of his father.

Also Sawyer was a cop because that role would bring him into contact with the other players - there was a line of dialogue about the people in this world being whatever was needed to get them to this place - and because in the 1977-verse, he found fulfilment (and Juliet) as a makeshift lawman.

Makes much more sense than Charlie Anders' idea about true love. Go back and watch it again"
