Chances of Getting Tickets?

2009 was my first Glastonbury and I can honestly it was amazing beyond belief I still get chills thinking about it, it was better than I could have imagined. I now plan on going every year. So ofcourse I bought tickets for me and some friends for 2010 when they went on sale, and was lucky too considering they actually sold out. Due a monumental mistake with booking a holiday and just plain stupidty (a friend told me it was June and not July!) I thought our holiday clashed with Glastonbury. I reluctantly sent SeeTickets asking them to cancel and refund my tickets the month mixup was quickly relasied and I emailed them asking to ignore that email. However the tickets got cancelled and they said they cannot 'uncancel' them. Cancelliations, people who havnt paid full deposits and I beleive a little extra more go on sale on April 4th'ish dont they? If Im up at the comptur from like 7 what are my chances of being able to get a ticket? Do they even go back on sale, will they go quickly or not?

I will be truely heartbroken if I am not able to go, especially what with it being the 40th Anniversary and all!

Any thoughts, opinions, past experiences, hints will all be appreciated.

oh no, what a horrible situation!

I'm not sure exactly when the returned tickets go back on sale but it'll be sometime after the end of feb.. it may well be april the 4th, and then there will probably be sporadic smaller resales later on as well, my advice is to keep a close eye on these forums as someone usually posts on here when they do become available.

I expect the resale tickets will go pretty quickly this year, but good luck!

So all in all, it will probably be hard to get a ticket, but there will be tickets so it's worth a go. All you can do is hope you can get one. No one will have a definitive number of tickets on sale, but it'll probably be less than 10,000.

The date of the next sale hasn't been announced. It might be the first Sunday in April as it's been in recent years but it also might not be - as the deposit settlements has to be paid up by the end of Feb, they'll in theory be in the position to do the resale very soon afterwards. It's extremely likely to be publicised in advance.

As far as I'm aware the only tickets that will be available in that sale will be cancelled tickets and deposit tix where the remainder hasn't been paid up. All the tickets available to be sold* were sold in October.

* There are likely to be a small number of 'extra' tickets made available nearer the festival - the festival puts aside a batch of tickets for use by staff/performers (and hangers-on)/traders/etc, and of course they have to ensure that they have enough to cover those unknown-at-this-time needs. Once they know the numbers needed for those purposes, any spares are usually made available to buy.

I suspect those 'spare' tickets will be sold along with any that are returned for a full refund before 7th May (the last date tickets can be returned for refund), sometime shortly after 7th May.

Last year, there were around a total of 10,000 tickets available in those two 'resales'. However, I suspect the the number this year will be significantly lower because of this being seen as such a big year for the festival because of the 40th anniversary.

If Im up at the comptur from like 7 what are my chances of being able to get a ticket? Do they even go back on sale, will they go quickly or not?

any announced sale is likely to start at 9am. Be ready and checking the page 15 or so minutes before in case they come on sale a little early - it will most probably increase your chances.

They will definitely sell out VERY quickly!

I'm hoping to get a couple for mates who were lazy and didn't believe they'd sell out in October. I'm sure if you keep your eyes peeled on here and sign up to the mailing list you're in with a fairly ok chance. I managed to get an extra one completely at random when they went on sale for a couple of hours back in October or November thanks to this forum.

I don't get the whole 40th anniversary thing. I've been to the 25th, 30th, and 35th anniversaries, I wouldn't say it was much more difficult to get tickets for any of them than any other years particularly.

Last year was a weird annomaly, a combination of bad weather previously and festival saturation maybe.

I remember '95 had sold out and a few of my friends were still without tickets. Think it was £65 for the weekend then. The cheapest ticket we could find was £100 by resale. They all "jumped".

A couple of mates didn't get tickets for '99 initially, and payed way over the odds for "local" tickets sometime later.

There are always some who don't get tickets who want to go, I don't really think U2 make much difference.

They'll be tickets up for grabs (early April seems likely), best of luck, organisation and determination seem the most important things to me in determining if you get a ticket or not. There seem to be less "I ain't got a ticket" threads than in previous years though, even though it's months off. I reckon your chances are rerasonable.

There was a guy who was caught paragliding in last year on the Sunday. We were sat outside our tent during Nick Cave just watching this guy fly over the festival, and the people next door claimed they knew him! Apparently he'd joked in the pub the week before about flying in, and they hadn't believed him. But there he was!

I remember my friend getting a last minute ticket through Orange. Not sure if they still do this. As long as you are on the ball I'm sure you will be sucessful.

We've got a couple of mates who missed out for various reasons and we really really hope we can get them in the resale.

More important than the 40th anniversary, was the lovely weather last year. Everyone who went last year will want to go again, as will everyone who heard about it.

Little to no chance IMO, things working against people trying to get them:

- U2

- there not being very many tickets in the re sale

- the fact that even though they dont need to it will be heavily publicised

- people who have got tickets have had a long time to convince their mates who havent got tickets to at least try

this will be as hard as getting standing tickets to a band that are realistically too big to play an arena in my opinion, based on previous experiences. there wil be a very lucky few.

Couple of mistakes you made.

Don't cancel your tickets. See will re-imburse your £40 if you inform them or not. I'll always pay off my ticket if I can afford them, you've got till May to cancel them. I know this doesn't help, just a couple of pointers for everyone.

I think to try and get tickets in any re-sale will be hard this year. U2, 40th anniversary, good weather last year etc. Just try your best. Be on here for any links on T day, keep an eye on here when cancelled tickets do filter throu. There was a fair few 'on sale now' posts on here around a month before the festival. Good luck.

My dads friends are going because it is the 40th for the first time in 20 years! That's not to say they are only going because of its the 40th but it is what put it on their radar so to speak.

Just a thought, don't forget you can phone for tickets too? On t day for the 2010 tickets I phoned at 08.50 got straight through. Nice young man on the phone put me on hold until they went on sale at 09.00 and then got two.... job done! My advice, get your mate who messed upthe holiday dates to try on their computer, you try on yours and you both try on the phone!

We got through on the diret number not the 0845 one, I forget the number exactly but there are aces direct ones lurking on the old t day threads on here somewhere!
