How about Doves?

Was just thinking back and remembered they were rumoured for R/L last year but it didn't materialise so was thinking maybe they could make an appearance this year?

They're playing Isle of Wight so they are doing festivals and they did a lot last year not including R/L.

Mid main or headline NME?

Personally I'd love them to play as had no money when they toured.

opinions?

despite doves being the ultimate sunshine band, i've never managed to see them like that. They supported coldplay (wasn't great, the crowd weren't arsed partially due to the fact that it properly hammered it down until coldplay came on). Saw them last year headlining bingley and they were just fantastic. So many anthems crammed into one set. Pretty sure one of them got married over the r/l weekend last year which would explain them never materialising, but yes, get doves booked!

lithium, you sound like someone i used to know, refused to like music if it wasn't fast and heavy.

Stop trolling as the metal scene is probably the only thing more redundant than indie right now, and that's after indie has been rammed everyone's throats for the last five years.

I'd almost agree with that, except I'd say it was equally redundant.

And I'm not the sort of person who refuses to like music if it's not fast and heavy. I just don't like Doves and find it annoying that some bands, such as Doves, are deemed to be immune to criticism by their blinkered fans, who dismiss any such criticism as infantile or ignorant, and miss the point that maybe, just maybe, their music isn't to everyone's taste.

.... and I prefer "fishing" to "trolling" :P
