Backstage Tickets

Its always been the same....even going back 25years or more. Its worth it for the toilets and thats about it.I,ve met tosspots who have been to several festivals, lived in so called backstage areas and not seen a single act apart from when they accidently flounce through. Their idea of a great time is getting their photo taken with Fern Cotton.

I had Sonar Pro tickets this year which cost about twenty quid more than the normal ticket, that was worth just because I could nip out to the offie and bring in some cans which at 30c were somewhat cheaper than the €2 for a quarter litre of budweiser inside the festival.

yup, they were the hospitality wristbands.

But not everyone that had them were Hoxton whores and the like - for instance I had one, because that backstage area also contains the press facilities which I needed access to.

I think it's the case that most people who have them are industry types. It's certainly the case that major record companies get a number of them (I'm unsure on what terms tho - they might well pay for them).

At Rock Ness I had a back stage pass. By back stage pass I mean a bit torn off the top of a paper beer cup, as the VIP wristbands were white. I got in, used the toilet, ate a "gourmet burger" or something like that, got some Rhubarb vodka from the farm boys who owned the field it was on, and walked away again. It wasn't worth it at all.

Last year my mates band played Download and I went backstage with him. The backstage part was realy just the bit between the backstage part and the areana. It was alright, but did just seem to be full of people who loved talking to bands.

I've never been to Glastonbury, but my experience of "back stage" at festivals is "Ah it's quite cool for an hour or so to do something different, but I would never pay £xxx for this!!!!!!"

Now that the new backstage camping area has it's own dedicated monorail stop, I think £500 is completely reasonable to sleep next to a dozen idiots who "know the wombats".

Never had back stage passed for Glastonbury but I have had them for V and Leeds. Free every time would not pay for them.

Never camped in any special back stage area always preferred to be amongst the masses that is where the fun us.

As previously said souless area with too many people more interested in looking good and seeing if anyone famous is around. Only plus point is the toilets.

Have found that you get stopped by loads of people asking how you got the pass and if you can get them and their friends back stage.

Backstage is a good place for a nap. thats about it imo.

last year one of the lads never even bothered picking his pass up cos theres was no point.

I have blagged a stage pass a few times, THEY ARE worth have'n, watchin ian brown and the la's from the side of the stage was immense

I camp backstage a Circus and Theatre as we help set it up and my mate runs the backstage Bar. I perfer it there but we do have our own sofas, computer, fridge and freezer and own shower, so what's not to like Plus we have the all night slott brothers cocktail bar Not sure I would pay big money for the main stage

One Muddy year my Mate who organises us down there has a landrover, which we use, was approached by Haggis and one of Kate Moss's people and asked if he could drive her around for the weekend as her landrover had broken down, he would be paid well. He told them to Fcuk off as it was his festival too, if not more so and why can't she walk like the rest of us I love him for that

I've been lucky enough to be backstage a couple of times now and have definitely been grateful to those who made it possible

Definitely true it's not party central, at least from my own limited experience... however it's also a nice break from the mayhem and such. Most welcome.

The best thing about having a hospitality pass is being able to go between the other stage and pyramid stage without going all the way around. Sadly I have never had one of these passes but my partner did a few years ago before I met him the sod!

I've been backstage at JP and the Park and I can say it's nothing special. There isn't as much of an atmosphere there, feels like a completely different festival. The only plus point I can think of is that the toilets are better and there are slightly smaller queues for the showers, and even then the lines are huge.

As far as I know (based on past few years' experience) the hospitality tickets are either press or industry, with some competition winners thrown in. There's nothing exciting about it. The shortcut is good, toilets and showers are good, and there's a bit more room, but that's about it.

I'd say that probably half those in the backstage area are working at the festival - be that clean-up crews/security/photographers/journalists, etc, with the other half on a jolly.

They're not supposed to be resold via agencies, so if you buy one that way you always run the risk of not getting in.

People were pouring over the barrier and all of the security were trying to stop people from getting off stage, and they left the entrance to backstage open. So me and a bunch of others just walked through. At the end of the set some girl who got given Courtney's guitar walked over to us and we all had a go. Hung around for a good half-hour or so before security started getting suspicious and we legged it. Didn't seem very special and not a lot going on at all. Certainly not what I expected, which was something along the lines of Liam, Bobby, Kate, Courtney and Peter Buck getting wrecked and causing havoc together. Just a bunch of important looking people looking serious and a few wasters.
