Well I think its not! Granted the overwhelming majorty will be from the UK, but if one says the site capacity is 175,000 (correct me if wrong) then to be in excess of 99% means that there is less than 1750 people from outside the UK.

There would be more than 1750 Irish there alone I reckon and to think I met people from Cuba, Spain, New Zeland, Australia, Canada, USA and Greece!

Anyway..........this is all way off the point. The name of the thread is "Bigger Bands than U2". One would assume from this title that if your going to think big you got to think global. If you dont your quite inward looking............

As I'm just about to reply to a mail from someone at See about another matter, I'll ask him and hopefully get a correct answer (tho he might not know, and prolly won't look it up for me).

Some folks seem fixated on Rock bands. Glasto is about diversity. So U2 barely beat Kenny Rodgers in the RIAA list. There's a few bigger here

See wouldn't know how many people from countries other than Britain attend. They would be able to tell you what proportion of ticket sales were made on the overseas ticket sales line, and which ticket addresses were outside the UK. Different thing though. Most of the Aussies that turn up probably are coming from Willesden, Earls Court etc.

I'd really like The Stones for Saturday and Bowie for Sunday. But I guess we'll get the Coldplay / Muse / Radiohead option on Sunday, as they are much the 3 biggest bands in this country presently.

Only other artists I could think of (that are viable), would be Madonna, Kings of Leon, Beyonce (not my taste), Chilli Peppers, Metallica, AC/DC, Elton John, George Michael, Prince, Britney, Take That.

Some of these are probably too 'poppy' as well to be considered.

It will be interesting to see who's asked to line up against U2 for instance on Friday on some of the other stages.......much as they may be dissed somewhat on this forum, I bet they get a HUGE audience on Friday

I don't think they're bigger than U2 but if we were having this discussiona few years back RHCP would have been mentioned as one of the biggest bands in the world. I'd argue now that Foo Fighters might well be above them.

Either way I'm fairly sure that the Saturday slot will be The Stones and that Sunday will go to Muse.

I know you have less taste than a bloke who's just had his tongue cut out, but at least try to recognise talent.

Clue:

The bloke who plays Ken Barlow - legend

Jimi Hendrix - talented.

Prick Hucknall's hairdresser - not that talented.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - talented.

You playing FIFA 10 - not that talented.

Me playing FIFA 10 - sad case

    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
    • This Isaac wood news has dropped right out of left field. Great to hear he feels up to doing live stuff again    what will he play? Solo stuff , old BCNR stuff?    It’s only in November , it’s a bold booking to for someone who has previously had some struggles to come back and play a load of new stuff to crowds that big
    • Wow, Blink-182 back so soon. They’re the band they’ve never booked then. Great booking if they’ve got them.    Deftones, Papa Roach, Knocked Loose   Lamb of God   Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte   Megadeth   Slipknot, Gojira, Motionless In White   All Time Low
