Fleetwood Mac Are way bigger than U2 for me. In fact U2 are nearly at the bottom of my tolerable bands List.

The stone roses (just putting it out)

The Who (want to see em before they all die)

Rolling Stones

Bands I'd like to see in general and in no perticular order,

Beck

Bluetones

Cake

The Charlatans

Delays

Elbow

The Flaming Lips

Foo Fighters

Green Day

Groove Armada

Happy Mondays

Interpol

Keane

The Killers

Kings of Leon

The Lemonheads

The Magic Numbers

Muse

My Vitriol

Pixies

The Pogues

Queens Of The Stone Age

Radiohead

Rage Against The Machine

Snow Patrol

Sonic Youth

The Stills

The Strokes

The White Stripes

The Zutons

Plus many more, of which some played this year so for obvious reasons wont be playing next year.

From Wiki, biggest selling artists:

1.Beatles - half dead

2.Elvis - all dead

3.MJ - ditto

4.ABBA

5.Queen - Fred dead

>200million:

AC/DC - unlikely for Glasto

BeeGees - too crap

Celine Dion - ditto

Elton John - washing his hair that night

Julio Iglesias - surely not

Led Zeppelin ?

Madonna ?

Nana Mouskouri

Pink Floyd ?

The Rolling Stones ?

Nana Mouskori or ABBA, then.

Bands Or Artistes Wot I Think Are Bigga Than Bono But I'm Not Saying I Likes Em

(in no particular order):

Iron Maiden

AC/DC

Daft Punk

Bon Jovi

Madonna

Prince

Meat Loaf

The Stones

Guns'n'Roses

Metallica

Radiohead

Eminem

Ozzy Osbourne

REM

Also

Manu Chao has sold many more records than U2 in recent years, 40 Million worldwide according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Maybe Michael Eavis could persuade Tupac and Biggie to come out of hiding now that would be big news.

:P

Only a few acts that could be bigger then U2 and play. Led Zep & Pink Floyd are a no, Fleetwood Mac are big (and amazing) bands but not big enough to headline. Ditto Eagles. Macca & the Who both played recently. That would probably leave Prince, Her Madge & The Stones. All would be great and having seen the Stones they are amazing but I think a bit to similar to U2.

If you do get the likes of those 'very' main stream bands on the Pyramid it makes predications for the Other Stage interesting!!!

God love The Eavis!!

You're talking bands that would sell out a global multi Stadium tour (Wembley size), so I'm afraid that would rule out Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, even Macca, Police,Prince and Take That and Robbie who's success is mainly British/Euro based.

But would rule in the likes of

Metallica

AC/DC

The Stones

Pink Floyd

Led Zep

.

.

.and hate to say it.....Madonna

well i think if our talkin about bands who are regarded as bigger than u2, then most likely is the stones/led zep.

but then im not convinced that the sat headliner will be a bigger band. the fact u2 are playin on friday is prolly jus a convenience for them thing.

kudos to the booking though. i didnt expect it at all...
