What do you define as Dance music then? Wiki has them down as Synthpop and New Wave, both very Dancey types of music.

But anyway, there's a dance village for dance music. Jazzworld is more than just dance music.

Would you have been surprised to see someone suggest Black Eyed Peas as Jazzworld headliners this time last year?

Not in the least - they're very much a Jazzworld act (and have played it before), in the way that SB are very much NOT a Jazzworld act.

I could take the piss here and say "I'm really not too surprised to see a recent convert from Reading Leeds have little idea of music". But I'll resist.

Not to sound like I'm whining at you, but what's with all the snide remarks about Leeds? Just because I've been to Leeds more times than Glasto doesn't mean I don't have a clue about how Glasto line-ups work.

The impression I'm getting from your posts (tho I don't claim to have necessarily read them all) is that you're thinking that any band who wouldn't be seen at Reading/Leeds should be on Jazzworld or Avalon.

Also, just checked the past line-ups for Glasto. The only time Black Eyed Peas played before their Jazzworld headline slot was when they 2nd headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2004.

Except that's not correct. They played Jazzworld in (I think it was) 1999.

You know, you shouldn't state assumptions as facts. I predict many bands to play across many stages, regardless of what other festivals they'd be likely for or whatnot. As I said in my previous post, I have a few bands down for the Pyramid Stage next year who'd never do Reading and Leeds. Do you think Stevie Wonder or Andy Williams will be at R&L 2010?

Ah right, well I didn't check that year's line-up. Still, they're hardly a Jazz band, are they?

The musical roots of what they do is very much from within jazz.

That's the basis of the acts that get booked for that stage (from the jazzy side of things, rather than the worldy side of things).

And so SB don't fit - the root of what they do is pop and nothing but pop.

New Wave was what I consider to be what bridged the gap between Dance and Rock in the '80s. The Jam leant more to the Rock side, Spandau Ballet leant more to the Dance side.

Saw the Ballet on Jonathon Ross recently. You've got to admit the guy can sing. I would like to see them just to prove my theory that that bloke from Eastenders doesn't really play the bass. Is it just me?
