That's from yesterday. And that's from Metcheck. Therefore I ignore it completely.

I know it's still early and it's certainly not a definite wash out, but I am so, so annoyed that it *looks* like it might be.

It's my last Glastonbury, and we've had positive forecasts for a while. For it all to turn to shit THIS F**KING CLOSE to the date itself is just so gutting. I wouldn't feel this bad if we had shit weather all the way through until the festival, so we at least knew what to expect. We've been teased and taunted. It's simply cruelty to sun lovers to do this to us. Again. I know what John McCarthy must have felt when his guards said 'we might let you go home next week' 2 years into his captivity, only to tell him 'ha! Only joking! Another 3 years I reckon....'

Only I don't have another 3 years. This is it. Last one. I won't be back for ages - years and years. I DEMANDED a dry one.

There's nothing I can do about it, but that doesn't stop me feeling quite sick of the prospect of yet another mudbath.

PLEASE change back. Just stay dry - just once.

From last year's pre-festival weather report:

According to the Met Office, the weather will be glorious – until the festival actually starts.

"To all intents and purposes, Thursday should be quite nice with sunny spells and only a small chance of showers," the Met Office told guardian.co.uk/music. "However, Friday looks like it will be quite cloudy, warm and humid with some showers from time to time. Chances are there could be some quite heavy downpours and possibly thunderstorms too."

Although it's too early to be sure, there is a chance that Saturday and Sunday could be similarly dismal. Which means don't even think about leaving those wellies at home.

"You'll probably be needing them," the Met Office told us. "And I'd advise you to bring an umbrella as well."

There's nothing so far to suggest a repeat of 2007. They look more like 2004. Showers (sorry) and sunshine in between. Still time for that low to weaken anyway, or veer of northwards.

The 'Dunkirk spirit' is nothing but a myth. It's just that nice people go to Glasto. They're not cress seeds that need watering to act nice. And for f**ks sake - people DIED at Dunkirk. Hardly a cheery atmosphere, was it?!

The problem is - this is from the media. The media that thinks Glastonbury and mud go hand in hand. Well they don't.

They don't get it - they think 'ha! Look at them - all enjoying the mud - the true Glastonbury spirit in such appalling conditions.'

Fair point, but I can't stay calm. You may have noticed but I take an interest in Glastonbury weather.

I don't give two f**ks about the weather at any other time of the year - all I ask is for 5 days of no rain in a specific part of rural Somerset.

Therefore, all rationality is drained out of me - supped by anxiety and grumpiness.

If I get this out of my system now, I might be okay for the festival.

I know how irrational and stupid I'm being.

Most areas of the UK should see plenty of fine and dry weather at the start of the period, with extended sunny periods and just a low chance of occasional showers developing inland. Northwestern areas may well be cloudier with occasional rain, although there should be periods of drier and brighter weather here too. Winds will be fresh at times in the north and west, but should stay generally light or moderate elsewhere.For the weekend and beyond, the more unsettled weather is likely to spread to most areas, giving a mixture of showers, occasionally heavy, and sunny spells across the UK. Temperatures are expected to be warm at first, locally very warm in the southeast, but are likely to return to near normal towards the beginning of July.

That link shows the UKMO (Met Office) charts with low pressure over south west UK for the whole Glasto period. I thought that was our last chance. Weather geeks, is 1008 particularly low, please say no?

It's not just Glastonbury people who would like the UKMO to be right with a suggestion of a continuation of this very pleasant quiet weather (with low humidity)!

But there is a lot of focus on uncertainties a week and more away when there is still a lot of decent weather yet to come. Also the latest METO monthly outlook suggests any rather more unsettled weather, if it transpires, will be a blip

I think there is every chance and hope that the bulk of the oppressive heat and humidity will be kept to our south and east with any attempts by unstable plumes to move northwards being shunted off to the east.

Now it's a cold spell at the weekend, heatwave start of next week then thundery and unsettled at the end of the week. All change in the space of 24 HOURS!

I advocate we put medium term meteorology alongside psychics and tarot card reading. i.e. complete garbage. Bar snow, we've had every weather type now predicted for the Glasto weekend.

Tuesday earliest for anything approaching an accurate forecast for 25th through 27th June. Even then I'll keep an open mind!
