i really don't see having a big metal act (Metallica) to headline in '10, it really cant be any more controversial as Jay-z can it?? or will it have people saying nount wrong with a bit of master of puppets after too many ciders

I do believe there's a place for Metal at Glastonbury within reason, acts like ACDC, Faith No More, Metallica, Guns n Rose or RATM would go down great but the majority of the smaller acts would just attract derrision.

Not really a metal band but I'd love Journey to play next year.

I'm a big fan of bands like the Deftones, System of a Down, RATM, Metallica etc, basically bands that have really good songs behind the riffs, not just metal for metal's sake.

I hate glastonbury's close mindedness on this genre. I'm not even that big a fan, but find it highly offensive that they associate heavy music with violence, when the festival has hosted acts like tool and ratm in the past. Yes what happened at roskilde was a tradegy, but surely some of the blame should be passed onto poor crowd management.

Someone asked Eavis at the Q&A this year if he'd consider hosting some metals acts and his answer was something like "Nah, I don't think so..." after saying that Slipknot were a bit scary when they played!

That's a very good point, if Glastonbury were to have a "Metal" band you'd imagine it would be something spectacular (ACDC, GnR Reunion) Not just the easy option.

Pear Jam and the Pumpkins would be amazing as well.

Tool, Faith No More, Rage Against The Machine, Queens of the Stone Age, Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Mastodon etc I think would all go down well.

I can understand you dont like Metal but how exactly would 1 or 2 metal bands out of the tons of bands that play ruin the festival?

Theres lots of music played that I dont like but it doesnt bother me.

(anyway to answer you question) Metal is a great music genera, and most metal fans are fine nice normal people, what u dnt want are the f**kers who go to reading and burn tents down. However those people arn't into metal, look at reading Festival 2009 line up, there is a massive lack of metal- and thats why.

i went to sonisphere this year. and yhr there were some complet c*nts. But atualy the majority of people were really nice happy festival go'ers. To prove a point, Bjorn again played and Diddnt get bottled.

Also if u look at metal. Old metal, like metallica Iron Maiden, is better. and there fans are much better behaved. Newer metal, Like BMTH, is shit. i saw BMTH and there fans beat the living shit out of each other...

Glastonbury has had heaveir bands play: like Lostprofets,Queens Of The Stone Age, muse, Nin, Rage Agaisnt the Machine and this year: Enter shikari. (perhaps u cud also include f**ked up and Eagles of death metal for this year too...)

I would love to see some metal at Glastonbury. Particularly the likes of Tool, NIN etc. Would love to see A Perfect Circle there could be a sort of happy medium lol.

Another vote for Rage Against the Machine from me, they seem to share some of the same values as the fest (maybe not so much these days after taking the big paychecks last year) and are very very good live.
