Keef about Download 2012: "We are definitely going to bring the party and make sure it rocks. It's the only festival appearance we are doing in 2012, so we're going to make sure it's really special. We're also going to be dropping some of the new stuff that we have been doing in the studio. It's going to be fucking ferocious"

Never really thought about the money situation. Guess it all depends how many albums they can punt off the back of a Glasto performance.

rumour has it - I don't know if it's true - that they lost out on headlining Glasto in the late nineties because of their money demands. That's apparently the reason why it was so many years before they played Glasto again.

How much of that attitude still might prevail I don't know.

They headlined in 97 and Liam gave out after about the shoddy setup, the stage and the sound. He dirtied his bib there.

there's something after that tho if what I've heard is true. I forget which year it was now, but they were supposedly asked to headline again and asked for £250k or something and wouldn't budge from that. As Glasto was paying something like £100k to its headliners at the time that made them an impossibility, and their demands meant that they didn't get asked again for years.

As I say, I don't know if all of that is true.... but while I can't even remember who my source was for that info now, I'd always believed it was true.

    • Just watched Annie Lennox at Wilderness Festival as part of her global feminist The Circle initiative. She curated the 2 hour slot with special guests including Jessie Ware and then did  a 1/2 hour slot singing her and Eurythmics hits at the end. Her voice is amazing still and I am convinced she would do an amazing set on Sunday afternoon. She even wore a jacket with a sparkling CND symbol on the back! It’s a sign!!

    • Is it one of those bollocks things where ones is a festival and the other would be a show lol
    • Hello,   I have no idea what the answer is to your question, but wish you well in your quest for information.
    • Yes, I was asking about comedy, and also it seems odd that after bringing it back last year, the Seaside Stage seems to have gone again. Probably why Massaoke (basically a big karaoke sing-along) is now on the Castle Stage. But on all three days?! Does all seem a little desperate this year, though hopefully I will be proved wrong. Still think the Mary Wallopers fiasco has probably put a lot of artists off performing at Victorious, hence the reduction in stages and acts appearing... One of the best things about Victorious in the early days was its value for money compared to some of the other bigger festivals, but this certainly not the case anymore...
