Now they seem to be big fans of the festival, and if the whole 40th anniversary plans come together you'd have thought that ME & EE would be more than happy to have them back.

A couple of days ago their homepage changed - http://www.thechemicalbrothers.com/index.php - which quite often suggests activity from an artist and if this activity is a new album there's a high likelyhood of a new tour.

so would you want them back?

where could they play? (since they headlined the other stage only 2 years ago)

I personally would love them there since they're one of my favourite bands and i've only seen them at glasto on tv because this year was my first.

I've missed them previous years, so yes, would be nice to catch em.

As they have had a few 'classic sets' at Glastonbury over the years, I would not be suprised to see them making an appearence over the festival (Orbital and James who are back would be other 'classics' not mentioned in the usual frothing).

im pretty sure they have a new record out this year. listen out for an Electronic Battle Weapon (a white label, clubbed up version of a new track) - always the precursor to a new Chems album. they are pretty regular with their albums: always every 2 or 3 years, with a tour following.

i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they showed up next year.

Yes please!

I would prefer them headlining the Other tho, rather than 2nd top on the Pyramid because the light show loses something when it's still light.

IMO they are big enough to be a Pyramid headliner (could pull a good enouogh crowd) but I think it's likely that there'll be someone bigger lined up.

They'll be back...Glasto not been the same without them this year. The boys had to take a bloody long break this year after the previous 2 years of non stop touring across the world as well as get over other issues obviously. I can see a Pyramid headline meself...hopefully...or even a Jazz if they cant be squeezed in around the Radiohead/Coldplay/Stones headlines or whatever is being currently bandied about for next year.

Have missed them terribly this year but then again...seeing the same show 10 times in a year was a bit overkill too mind! :D:lol:

AND...Underworld have not played SINCE 1999 and Orbital had better well be back too! And DP...and maybe while we are at it, convince Leftfield to reform for old times sake! :) I dreamt Faithless broke up last night as well...weird!

How about Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers and Orbital on Fri, Sat and Sun on Other Stage? Would be an amazing contrast to the inevitable U2/Radiohead/Muse etc etc on the Pyramid. I think I'd literally f**king explode if it happened, shame it wont.

Then again it is the 40th anniversary and stranger things have (probably) happened.

Well, they had Basement Jaxx, Chems and Orbital back in, I think, 04 headlining the Other so it's almost been done once already (and I'm pretty sure no one literally exploded then!).

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
