Doves?

Well if they were Main Stage they'd be mid to high which kind of rules that one out. Some people predicted them for NME headliner but if Rocksound's story about two heavy NME headliners turns out true then does this mean they're not playing?

Could still be announced. I'm looking at the Radiohead day lineup and thinking there's at least a big name or two missing on the main stage. Arctic Monkeys/Prodigy/Maximo Park/Ian Brown are all big names on one day, and KoL/Kaisers/Placebo/Fall Out Boy/Deftones are all big names on the other (though a few aren't to my taste).

On the Radiohead day it's only them and Bloc Party I'd count in that league at the moment. Would love to see Doves occupy that slot since I have a day ticket...

They would be a great addition to the Sunday line up, would be nice to see them below Bloc Party.

I honestly think they will be at V though, they seem to fit in alot more with other acts like Elbow, Snow Patrol and Oasis.

There new album is preety good too, one of a limited number of bands who have released four decent albums.

i have my fingers crossed.

it wouldn't surprise me if they were low down on the bill though as although they deserve to be right up there, there is not the kind of buzz around them as there are with bands like vampire weekend.

    • Policing is very relaxed, provided you stay within your lines I'd say. I don't think we're supposed to have an event shelter as well as a tent next to our van, but we've done it without issue for years. It's a happy vibe up there.
    • Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that... (not to mention Fender winning last year, which frankly was a joke)    Hard not to agree with this: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/this-years-mercury-prize-is-a-pivot-towards-the-mainstream/
