Sorry if a similar thread has already been started but I couldn't find one (although admittedly I didn't have a thorough look!)

Anyway, I've only heard heart of gold, old man and hey hey my my and I really like those 3 so I was wondering what else I should listen to. Should I just get a greatest hits or would I be better off getting 2 0r 3 of his albums?

Some of my favourite tracks (album in brackets)

Cortez The Killer (Zuma)

Like A Hurricane (American Stars n Bars)

Needle And The Damage Done (Harvest)

Heart Of Gold (Harvest)

Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black) (Live Rust)

Albuquerque (Tonights the Night)

Vampire Blues (On the Beach)

Cinnamon Girl (Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere)

Down By The River (Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere)

Cowgirl In The Sand (Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere)

Actually thinking about it "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" is just awesome from start to finish!

Well worth checking out but he has done a lot of other good stuff later too. :D

Try 'Harvest Moon' for example. :)

The set list archive at Sugar Mountain is kept nice and up-to-date to see what's been played recently - LINK

Favourite tracks for me:

Cortez the Killer

Cowgirl in the Sand

After the Goldrush

From Hank to Hendrix

Ambulance Blues

On the Beach

Like a Hurricane

Rockin' in the Free World...

Live Rust and Weld are both cracking live compilations and a good way in I think.

I always advise people to first get Decade, and probably Live Rust, Rust Never Sleeps, Freedom and Ragged Glory should then cover most of his set.

Or do what I did, and buy everything he's ever done.

My favourite tracks are probably:

For The Turnstiles

Words (epic at Werchter )

Time Fades Away

Crime In The City

f**kin' Up

Old Man

Don't Let It Bring You Down

I'm The Ocean

Captain Kennedy

Look Out For My Love

Cowgirl In The Sand

Be The Rain

Drive By

Drive Back

Welfare Mothers

New Mama

Alberquruqe

Sample And Hold

Dangerbird

But to be honest, I'm pretty useless as a barometer as the only I don't really like is Everybody's Rockin'.... so yes, I love Trans and Landing on Water :D

Has been noticed before, but he's playing Hard Rock Calling so it could just be warm-ups for that

I would heartily recommend the Ragged Glory album - every song is a killer and sung with oodles of conviction - also Live Rust and Decade for excellent overviews of all his best stuff.

    • Possibly not as there are chair size restrictions in the seated area, for the guidelines see here -  https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/bring   Have a look into applying for Access and I would recommend contacting them for further advice before buying a ticket - https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/access  They should also be able to answer if you can take a wheelchair into the seated area 🙂
