For what it's worth (not much) there was a small snippet in the freebie paper thelondonpaper today reporting that the only festival Orbital would play is this Whatsits in the Park one. Not sure if this is what NME have said already (the implied exclusivity).

I didn't hear this. Are we sure he was serious?

Looking at their tour you'd think it was based around Glastonbury:

Brighton Dome (June 10th)

Leeds Academy (June 11th)

Manchester Academy (June 18th)

Manchester Academy (June 19th)

Newcastle Academy (June 21st)

Sheffield Academy (June 23rd)

London Brixton Academy (June 24th)

London Brixton Academy (June 25th)

Global Gathering - (July 24th/25th)

And what's changed so much at Glastonbury in a few years?

That's the only festival they're playing in the capital. Perhaps thelondonpaper doesn't realise that things happen outside of London? ^_^

Paul Hartnoll: "At the moment we haven't been sitting anywhere in the dance landscape - we're about to plop ourselves right back into the middle of it hopefully.

"But then, we've never been entirely a dance band. People enjoy us who aren't just necessarily dance fans."

While their summer plans will include dates at the Get Loaded ["the light show over the sunset and darkness approaching towards the end of the gig - I love it"] and Big Chill festivals it won't see them rekindle their love affair with Glastonbury.

"Not this year. We're very busy, I think we're doing enough," he reasons.

Gutted Orbital won't be there this year but I do think they will be back in 2010.

Glasto's 40th year - Perfect time for ORBITAL to 'rekindle their love affair with Glastonbury'

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
    • Oh well that's why then, I assumed it was still the same. Thanks!
    • Think this will be it...I think they are a level above trees.
